further procedure of writing joining application and getting my registration done. I along with my co-
interns were assigned the work to visit Mahila Thana at Gandhi Nagar where we were supposed to visit
child care unit and Mahila Suraksha and Salah Grah and understand its functioning by interacting with
people and staff over there , after completion of our work we headed towards PUCL office.

to human rights in the newspaper and to separate it category vice and arrange them in files . We also
saw practice of Nukkad Natak. Later we were also a part of meeting at PUCL office by Mamta ma’am
and Naseer sir.

20 January
This day a meeting was held at the PUCL Office, headed by Kavita Ma’am. She asked for the feedback
from the various schools and colleges that we went to and guided us regarding the program to be held
in 30th January. We also discussed Gandhiji’s ideas on Cow slaughter and why didn’t he wanted it to be
banned. He believed that no one can be stopped from following their religious beliefs and as cow
slaughter is believed to be holy in the Muslim religion, we should not stop such acts. Then we went to
the Kisan Bhawan in a conference where we saw a documentary on the Dalit women rights. the
documentary was all about the movement by the Dalit women demanding their rights. We were given a
chance to review the film also and many suggestions were made as to how could movie be enhanced. It
was a good way to let the people know what the suppresses caste women go through and what can be
done to improve their condition and give them their rights.

21 January
We were told to complete all the required information about the colleges and schools who were invited
for the 30th January programme. Later, we had the discussion about Gandhi's view on cow slaughter. I
agree with Gandhiji on the part that we cannot stop anybody from following their religion as nobody
can stop us. As Muslims cannot stop us from worshipping idols, similarly we cannot stop them from
consuming beef. Later in the afternoon, we watched a movie named 'Gandhi', an Oscar winner. The film
is about how Gandhi followed the path of nonviolence and peace to make India free from the Britishers
and all his struggle in doing so. It also shows Gandhi's views on making of the Indian constitution. The
film shows Gandhiji as the 'real hero' who let this county get freedom and made the people of this
country learn brotherhood and fight against injustice. Overall the film was a deep insight into Gandhi's
life struggles.

22 January
We all had a discussion regarding the coming week programme i.e. the Constitution week. The Nukkad
team and the Gandhi play team were to perform at different places and the groups were formed
respectively. Then we watched a video on difference between Hinduism (Hindu dharma) and Hindutva.
Hinduism is a religion which he people follow but Hindutva is a political agenda. Different characteristics
of Hinduism were explained by Mr. Joshi and he also explained how it is confused with Hindutva. The
second lecture was about the RSS ideologies and its origin. The video explained how the RSS people and
ABVP cam into being and how their ideologies are against Muslim people.

23 January
We all gathered at the PUCL Office to see a series named ‘Samvidhan’, which is based on making of the
Indian Constitution. We saw an episode which strives towards the making of the constitution and how
and what amendments were demanded in the preamble by the people of the constituent assembly. It
tells us that the making of the preamble was not an easy task and many things had to be taken into
consideration as it is the soul of the constitution. Further, we saw an episode that focussed on the
making of the fundamental rights and it showed us the need for various fundamental rights for the
citizens of India.

program for the constitutional week and also did song practice.

value of their decisions and how they should fight for their rights. Later in the afternoon, we all went to
the Vinobha Gyan Mandir to watch the screening for the Movie ‘Ammi’, directed by Mr. Sunil. The
movie is based on a boy named Nazeeb Ahmed, a student of Jawahar Lal Nehru University, Delhi, who
disappeared 15 days after taking admission into the college. It also showed how the ABVP supporters
tried to politicize the Delhi Police with their ideologies. They also tried to portray Nazeeb as a terrorist.
The movie beautifully shows the protests done by the close friends and relatives of Nazeeb and most
importantly his mother. The director of the film, when asked about the difficulties faced during the
making of the film told us that handling the tears a Mom who has lost her child was the most difficult
part.
