Hello everyone! My name is Macy Johnstone and I am the mayor of this great town of New Portland.

Global shipping is an evolving trade that requires us to be adaptive over time. My goal for our great
town is to expand our port infrastructure to our offshore areas. An offshore port is an opportunity for us
to be ahead of other countries whose marine transportation is a major export business. Such a port
would be a fixed structure away from the coastline with offshore facilities needed for handling large
volumes of goods especially dry bulk and containers. Our area will get increased capacity and will get
economically stronger, open up more job opportunities for our people especially with our increasing
population and generally, this will result in more income for us.

Investing in an offshore port can help each one of us in our various capacities solve one or more
problems for our people. To begin with, such a port will blow up our city into an economic powerhouse.
Construction of an offshore port will be an advantage to terminal operators project as it will save on
capital construction and operational costs involved in port development along the coastline since there
is no need to dredge long, deep channels and port basins and also since existing corridors and facilities
can be used. Similarly, downtimes of as much as 6 months that are due to wave changes can be avoided
if we invest on an offshore port. For those in technology, it will be a chance to concentrate present and
future developments in one spot. Additionally this project will help us minimize the ecological footprint
and the environmental impact as opposed to improving or expanding the existing coastline ports due to
lower fuel consumptions and more efficiency. For those in other industries such as mining and other
heavy industries, an offshore port would provide generally better performance and easier feasibility of
prospects especially if linked by the existing rail. I hope you these considerations help you recognize that
we need an offshore port for our city.

Thank you!
