A. ADMISSION POLICIES
1. Applicants must obtain their Baccalaureate degree by the end of the second semester
preceding admission to medical school. Those who will graduate after the summer
session preceding admission to medical school will be considered on a case by case basis.
2. Applicants must have taken the National Medical Admission Test. The Department
sets the NMAT cut-off.
3. Aside from the NMAT, all applicants shall take the psychological examination given
by the Department which would assess their aptitude and personality.
4. Applicants must pass the interview given by the Admissions Committee of the
College of Medicine.
5. Transfer students are considered, provided, they are in first year or in second year
med proper. Courses taken from the last medical school attended will be evaluated
for accreditation based on the policies set by the Department.
6. The Dean of the College of Medicine makes the final decision on the application of
students. The decision to admit candidates for admission rests on the credentials
submitted and the interview performance.
B. REQUIREMENTS & PROCEDURE
Fresh College Graduate
1. Applicants must submit the following requirements for evaluation:
a. Original Transcript of Records of the last 3 ½ years of any Baccalaureate program
(No more science subject requirement for Pre-med Course)
b. Four copies of colored pictures (2 x 2)
c. One (1) NSO original copy of Birth Certificate
d. Certificate of Good Moral Character from a former professor or dean
e. Letter of recommendation from a former professor or dean
f. Police clearance
g. Medical Clearance
h. CBC (complete blood count)
i. Urinalysis
j. Chest X-ray (PA view)
k. Honorable Dismissal/Transfer Credential
2. Applicants must have taken the National Medical Admission Test (NMAT)
3. Applicants must pay the application fee and secure an application form from the
Admissions Office.
4. Applicants must pass an interview session given by the Admission Committee

College of Medicine
The College of Medicine of the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Maynila accepts applicants
for incoming first year medical students during the first semester of each school year.
Lateral entrees from other medical schools will not be entertained. Previous applicants
need not apply.

Criteria for Admission


1. Must be a natural Filipino citizen
2. Must have complied with all academic preparations
3. General Weighted Average of 2.50 or its equivalent or better
4. Must have an NMAT of 45 and above
5. Must not have failed in more than one (1) subject in the Natural Science or
Mathematics
6. Must not have failed in more than two (2) subjects other than the Natural Sciences or
Mathematics
7. Must not have failed twice in any subject
8. Must have no record of having been dropped from any medical school
9. Must have no record of having been denied admission in the PLM-CM
10. Must have no record of conviction of a crime involving moral turpitude
11. Must pass the MCAT
12. Must have passed a panel of interview
13. Willing to sign a memorandum of agreement to serve in the community designated by
the College

Academic Preparations
1. He/She must be a holder of Bachelor’s Degree conferred upon by a duly recognized
education institution
2. He/She must have earned credits in the following areas, and must have satisfied the
required minimum numbers of units in the subject specifically enumerated herein:
Sciences: 35 units
Chemistry: 10 units
Inorganic Chemistry: 5 units
Organic Chemistry/Biochemistry: 5 units
Natural Sciences: 15 units (5 units should at least be Comparative)
Vertebrate Anatomy or Human Anatomy and Physiology
Physics: 5 units
Microbiology or Elem. Genetics: 5 units
Mathematics: 6 units
Algebra: 3 units
Elementary Statistics/Biostatistics: 3 units
Language and Communication: 9 units
Social Sciences: 9 units
(Political Science, Psychology, Sociology, History, Anthropology)
Humanities: 3 units
(Art Appreciation, Logic, Philosophy)

The Dean reserves the right to invalidate the result of the MCAT if the applicant has not
satisfactorily met the admission criteria and has not complied with all the above
requirements, in which case the applicants shall be denied admission to the College of
Medicine.

APPLICATION FOR ADMISSION

A student seeking admission to the Institute of Medicine should procure an Application


for Admission. This form must be submitted from the middle of October up to January of
the following year for that school year. The application date is subject to change. Notice
of such change shall be posted at the Medical School Bulletin Board.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION

In conformity with present CHED regulations and policies, the following qualifications
are required:

1. Applicant must be a holder of Bachelor's Degree in Science or Arts (AB/BS)conferred


upon by a duly recognized educational institution. Priority however shall be given to the
following programs, in the order in which they are set forth, provided that selection
fulfills all other criteria.

• Medical Technology, or Natural Science (Zoology, Botany, Biology,


Mathematics, Physics), Physical Therapy, or Nursing.
• Degree of Bachelor of Arts with Organic Chemistry, Botany, Comparative
Vertebrate Anatomy, College Algebra, Trigonometry.

• Engineering, Management, Commerce, etc.


2. Applicants must have earned credits in the subjects as summarized below:
• Chemistry ..................... 10 Units

PROCEDURE FOR APPLICATION/ADMISSION

1. Pay for application and processing fee at the designated bank (RCBC, Marian Medical
Arts Building)

2. Present the official receipt of payment at Room UG 10 and secure the APPLICATION
FOR ADMISSION form.
3. Submit the completely accomplished application form, together with the following
requirements to the Committee on Admission:
• Official Transcript of Record or Scholastic Record plus two (2) Xerox copies of
the degree obtained from the school last attended

• Authenticated copy of College Diploma or Certificate of Graduation issued by the


Registrar of the School last attended

• Xerox copy of NMAT certificate (less than 2 years old)

• Two (2) certificates of good moral character issued by the department/school head
and a teacher in the preparatory course

• Certified copy of Birth Certificate, issued by the National Statistics Office, with
documentary stamp

• Alien Certificate of Registration (ACR), if alien

• Three (3) recent photographs, size 2.5 x 2.5, with the applicant's name printed at
the back, (family name first)

• Two (2) envelops, self - addressed with stamp

• Community Tax Certificate

• One big Manila envelope

4. Deadline for submission of the completed Application Form is usually in the middle of
January.
5. Only selected applicants will be interviewed.
6. Admitted applicants can only enroll after passing a complete physical examination
given by the institute.
7. Schedules for interview, physical examination and other announcements will be posted
on the Bulletin Board, Lower Ground Floor, Medicine Building. Applicants are requested
to report on time to their respective areas on the day and time scheduled.
8. List of admitted applicants will be posted at the bulletin Board.
9. Other important information:
• Scholastic Records containing 7 semesters grades may be submitted to the
Admission Committee for early processing and screening.

• Indicate your application number in all documents and communications.

• Applicants 35 years old and above need not apply.

• Applicants should always present an identification card.

• Direct all inquiries to the Chairman, Committee on Admission, Institute of


Medicine, FEU-NRMF.
10. Registration follows immediately.

COLLEGE OF MEDICINE Local Applicants All qualified applicants to the College
of Medicine must submit the following forms along with the application form secured
from the Accounting Offices

1. NMAT Certificate.

2. Certificate of Eligibility for admission issued by the Commission on Higher Education.

3. Original Transcript of Records from the College last attended showing credits and
degree earned as well as Special Order number (fully authenticated).

4. Original College Diploma or Certificate of Graduation.


5. Eight (8) colored photographs 2"x2" in size, taken at least within two (2) months
before application.

6. Clear Photocopy of Birth Certificate.

7. Clear Photocopy of Marriage Certificate, if married.

8. Certificate of good moral character issued by two (2) former professors in the
premedical course.
