4 kinds of love

Matthew 5:43-44 – Love our enemies and pray
for all those who persecute us.
Loving God:
“with all our heart”- It is with all our inner and
outer desires and longings.
“with our soul”- It is Obeying God at the risk
even of one’s life
“with our strength”- It is with all one’s resources
of wealth and reputation.

The Last Supper
The Passover Feast (Ex. 12:1-28)
 This was the most important feast of the
Jews because it recalls their deliverance
from the slavery in Egypt. Everybody went
to Jerusalem to celebrate it with their
families and friends.
 They needed to prepare the lamb and
sacrifice it in the Temple. Other things
necessary were: the unleavened bread,
the wine, and the bitter herbs.
The Last Supper (Mk. 14:12-16; 22-26)
 While they were eating, He took the bread,
said the blessing, broke it and gave it to
them.”
Holy Eucharist
Christ is present in the mass in:
1. Consecrated Bread and Wine –A
sacramental personal presence of Jesus
that is real and substantial
“TRANSUBSTANTIATION”
- a process in which the bread and wine we offer
becomes the body and blood of Jesus Christ
2. Liturgy of the Word–Jesus Himself who
speaks whenever the Scriptures are read
3. Person of the Priest- the priest acts as
the representative of Jesus (in persona
Christi) – in the person of Christ
4. Assembly – “Where two or three are
gathered together in my name, there I am
in the midst of them” (Mt. 18:20)
Christ’s presence in the Holy Eucharist:
 Sacramental- can be seen and touched in
the form of bread and wine.
 Personal- communion within the Body of
Christ through the Spirit.
 In His glorified body – different from Jesus’
presence in the Last Supper
 Dynamic and lasting- moves us to His love
and to respond in love

The Resurrection, Ascension and
Pentecost
The importance and nature of
Resurrection:
 The truth is that the resurrection is not a
proof, It is the good news, the message
The salvific importance of the Resurrection in 5
points:
 It confirmed everything Christ has
taught.
 It fulfilled the Old Testament
prophecies promising a Savior to
all.
 It confirmed Jesus’ divinity.
 It brought us a share in the new
life.
 It is the principal and source to
our future resurrection.

Ascension
 Christ’s body was glorified at the moment
of his resurrection.
 During the 40 days he eats and drinks, his
glory remains veiled under the appearance
of humans
 The Ascension is marked by the
irreversible entry of his humanity into
divine glory, symbolized by the clouds and
heaven.
Pentecost
The Descent of the Holy Spirit & birth of the
Church
 The Apostles went to the upper room of a house to
pray for the coming of the Holy Spirit. Mary was
with them too. They were afraid to go out and
preach as Jesus had asked them to do. Suddenly
there came a sound from heaven, as of a mighty
wind coming, and it filled the whole house where
they were sitting. And there appeared to them
parted tongues as it were of fire, and it sat upon
every one of them: And they were all filled with
the Holy Spirit, and they began to speak with
diverse tongues, according as the Holy Spirit gave
them to speak.” [Acts 2:2-4]
Symbols of the Holy Spirit
 “And suddenly there came a sound from
heaven as of a mighty rushing wind...”
God's Holy Spirit is somewhat like the wind.
We can't see him, but we know that he is
there because we can see the effects of his
power in our lives.
 “..There appeared unto them tongues like as of
fire...”
Fire brings light and warmth, and the words
spoken by the Apostles at Pentecost and
after would bring light to those who would
hear them.
The disciples were suddenly empowered to
proclaim the gospel of the risen Christ. They went
out into the streets of Jerusalem and began
preaching to the crowds gathered in the city.
 The Passion of Christ - I thirst.

Jesus' Trial

nothing guilty with him he was really dead. Water and blood flowed

-Sent back to Pilate and asked the crowd if
they wanted Barabbas or Jesus, but the crowd 3. The soldiers didn't break Jesus' legs as he
chose Barabbas and so he was pardoned was already dead.
-Claudia (Pontius' wife) pleaded for Pilate not 4. Joseph and Nicodemus brought down
to crucify Jesus Christ's body and buried it.
- Pilate washed his hands in front of the crowd
as he will not be directly responsible for Jesus' 5. Phenomenal happenings occurred during
his death, such as darkness to the 6th to the
death 9th hour (noon to mid-afternoon), earthquake,
- Claudia comforted Pilate Judas—being guilty tearing of the temple veil, and the resurrection
of his actions, gave back the coins and hanged of Saints
himself. Jesus is beaten and whipped. Jesus is
crowned with the crown of thorns and dressed
in a purple robe. Jesus carries his cross to GOOD LUCK! :))
