PhoneSuite User Instruction

I. PhoneSuite Installation and Connection


1.1 COM driver installation
(1) PL2303_Prolific_DriverInstaller_v1210.zip
(2) Connect your mobile to PC through connecting cable via USB port when your
phone is in power-on state. Select COM port, then a pop-up window will appear to Add
new hardware (or you can operate like Control panel – Add new hardware) to install COM
driver. Driver files are:
\phonesuite\Driver\2k_XP_COM (98_Mass, 98ME_COM)
When installation is finished, a window will indicate that USB Modem Driver has been
installed. Click finish to complete the installation.
1.2 Port testing
Open Windows Device Manager (Control panel – System – Hardware – Device
Manager), then double click Ports (COM & LPT). *** USB Modem Driver (COM?) will
be listed. ? means specific port number, such as COM1, COM2, COM3, COM4,
COM5…. Port number may vary with computer configuration.

1.3 Click PhoneSuite.exe to open Editor. Then click Settings on the left.
1.3.1 select mobile phone resolution – 320X240
1.3.2 COM port: select the port number that is listed under Port (COM & LPT). (Control
panel – System – Hardware – Device Manager)

1.4 Connection check-up


Connected will appear at the right bottom of the editor to indicate successful connection.

II. How to use PhoneSuite Editor


2.1 PhoneSuite Introduction
PhoneSuite provides users with numerous features, which enables users to manage
their phones on computer via connection cable, Infrared, or Bluetooth.
2.2 Phonebook
This feature is to manage the phonebook stored in mobile phone and computer.
Phonebook in mobile phone can be read and backed up via computer, as well as added,
edited, deleted. Besides, contacts in LotusNotes, Outlook and Outlook Express can be
copied to computer or mobile phone.
 Handset Folder --- to show contacts information stored in SIM card and mobile
phone.
 PC Folder --- to show contacts information on computer. New folder can be
created to group contacts.
 Trash Can --- to save all deleted contacts.
 Lotus Notes --- contacts in "Lotus Notes", who can only be copied to mobile
phone.
 Outlook --- contacts in “Outlook ", who can only be copied to mobile phone.
 Outlook Express --- Contacts in "Outlook Express", who can only be copied to
mobile phone.
2.2.1 Memory
There are three ways to store phonebook and messages: SIM card, mobile phone,
and computer. You can manage contacts and SMS/EMS stored in different places.
If you connect your phone to computer, a window will appear to ask you whether to
download phonebook and SMS/EMS from mobile phone to computer. When data
transmission is finished, you can view in corresponding viewer. Once you delete
contact from Handset Folder, the same command will be received by your mobile
phone. On the other hand, Handset Folder is in synch with mobile internal memory.
2.2.2 Phonebook basic operations
Basic phonebook operations are: Add, Edit, Delete, Save, Move and Copy.
Take “Edit” as an example:

Choose pc1 under Name,then click to enter the following interface:


Click ok to complete editing.
2.2.3 Phonebook download
1. Click on the top toolbar.
2. To stop download by clicking [Cancel] on the progress bar.
2.2.4 Folder operation
Right click the folder to conduct operation.
2.3 Message
SMS/EMS can be read, edited or sent by this feature. Personal folder can be created
on computer to classify all messages.
2.3.1 SMS basic operations (write, edit, reply, forward, deleted, move, copy
and save as)
2.3.2 Download and send SMS
Send SMS: can send selected message to all contacts in phonebook. Message will be

saved in Outbox if sent successfully. (Click )


2.3.3 Folder operation (the same as above)
2.3.4 Message editor

1) A window will pop up to add recipient by click To.


2) Text, audio, image and animation can be inserted. Message can be sent out or saved.
2.4 Settings
This feature includes system settings and factory settings. User can customize to extract
contact information from other softwares.
2.5 Images
Different images can be created by this feature, revise the properties of existing images,
and transfer images from mobile phone to computer and vice versa. Besides, functions
like cut, mirror, rotator, etc are embedded to meet different user demands.
Take Edit image as an example:

Download and upload functions are also embedded.


2.6 Melody
Ringtones can be created by yourself via stave editing interface in this feature, and can be
sent from mobile phone to computer and vice versa.

2.7 MMS Message


MMS can be directly read and edited in this feature, and can be sent from
mobile phone to computer and vice versa.
MMS can be viewed in the viewer. Mobile phone MMS will be listed on the left, and can be
saved on computer by clicking [Save] on the left bottom. MMS on computer can be viewed

in MMS editor. Double click one folder to open the subfolder. And click to return back

to the up folder. A pop-up window where you can choose the exact path to view the
desired file will come out after clicking .
There is a simple MMS tool where the editing MMS can be viewed. MMS can be sorted in
ascending or descending order by left clicking the corresponding button on the top
toolbar.
MMS folder in mobile phone:

1) Inbox: to store received MMS.


2) Outbox: to store sent and unsent MMS.
3) Backup: to store MMS sent by computer.
4) Draft: to store half-written message and message that is sent from computer to
mobile phone.

Select one MMS, click :


Click Save to store MMS after editing.
2.8 File Manager
Detailed file information can be viewed in file manager. Files in mobile phone that is listed
on the left can be copied and pasted by clicking the button on the toolbar or saved to
computer by hotkey (^C and ^P). You can also browse the specific file on the computer by

clicking the drop-down combo box. Double click to open a subfolder. Click to open

the up folder. A pop-up window will appear to choose file directly by clicking . New

folder can be created by . All files will be sorted in ascending or descending order by left

clicking Filename, Size, and Modified Date. Java application can be downloaded from
computer through File Manager either.
2.8.1 File Management
1) Copy files in computer and paste to mobile phone or computer.
2) Copy files in mobile phone and paste to computer.
3) Delete file/folder on computer or mobile phone. Please be noted that all files under
this folder will be deleted when you delete this folder.
4) Create new folder on computer or mobile phone.
5) Rename file/folder on computer.
2.8.2 Java games installation

Choose one .jar or .jad file, and then click on the tool bar to install. No matter .jar/.jad
file is stored in mobile phone or computer, File Manager can install Java application to
mobile phone.
