Dear Congressman Brown,

We should be doing something about immigration laws because nobody on this earth should be

separated from the people they love the most. Like me, I have a one year old daughter and if

anybody tries to separate me from her, I would go crazy because my daughter means everything

to me and everything I do is for her because I want her to have a better life than me. Me and my

brother and my sister have been in and out of the system (the foster care system) and it is almost

like the immigration policy because somebody takes you away form the people you love like

your family. If you were people like us, how would you feel?

I was reading this story about a man named Alejandro who had no criminal record. He

overstayed his visa. He was considered an “fugitive alien” and therefore subject to immediate

deportation to Mexico. It is not fair to label him a fugitive like he was a criminal and send him

back. Why should good people like that have to be separated from their own family. That man

did nothing wrong and he never had a criminal record. People like him should stay with their

families.

I was reading about immigration policies and how they are violating fundamental human right

laws. It is interesting that President Trump talks about supporting “life, liberty, and property” but

doesn’t believe in it being a right for all humans. We can’t support him or his hurtful policies.

Help us fix this.

Dear Congressman Brown,

I don’t think it is right that Trump wants to separate families. I don’t think that any child should

be taken be taken from their parents. If that was my child, I would want Trump to stop.

While I was in class, I read an article about how people live in fear of being sent back to their

countries. Even if they have been here all their lives. Another article that I read said that kids

whose parents are arrested or deported can become orphaned. That just breaks my heart. This

means that the children are not being returned to their parents and become part of the system.

Help us change this!

Sincerely,

Dear Congressman Brown,

Families are being separated and innocent people are being hurt. It is wrong because families

should not be separated because family is a priority. Some children are just babies being taken

from their parents. In class I read an article that talked about a woman named Nancy Landa. She

was in the United States since she was a child. She was deported back to Mexico, even though

the U.S. had been her home for over 20 years. I don’t think that is right. She had left Mexico

since she was little and going back was difficult because that was not her home anymore. She has

been told that she had time to “fix” her papers to become legal, but she explained that she didn’t

qualify to apply for anything because she came after. She just lived everything in fear, until she

was deported. This is an injustice. People should never live in fear and they should never have to

leave their home that they had for 20 years.

Congressman, you can help us make a difference!

Sincerely,
