Personal Philosophy of Teaching

School is an important environment that most everyone goes through. Students grow up
in the education system and it shapes who they are. They grow and learn in their individual ways
and it is important to consider different ways that they each learn best. Personally, I have have
good and bad experiences within classrooms which has made me very aware of what I would
like to include in my own. Educators should value traits such as encouragement and patience.
Avoiding negativity and disrespectfulness is important as well, as I have dealt with it in the past.
Incorporating these values in a classroom will create a great space for students to succeed.
The educator can make or break a child’s learning experience so it is important to provide
them with a great experience. The role of a teacher is to lead their students along a path to reach
a goal that ends with gained knowledge and skills. Through the school year, the teacher should
be able to lead the classroom efficiently, help when needed and encourage students to reach their
goal. Creating lessons that students enjoy will make a more proactive class. Giving them a
memorable classroom experience will help them develop into better learners and prepare them
for school years in the future.
Students play a big role when it comes to their own education. It is important for them to
be active learners in the classroom. They should always be trying their best, actively
participating and coming prepared to learn. Students that are unmotivated make it harder for the
class to take away a good experience from a lesson. A classroom with open minds is important
when retaining meaningful information.
A students school experience can largely affect their growth. I agree with Piaget’s theory
that people gain knowledge and form meaning from events they have experienced. This is why a
good classroom is key in order for the students to grow and develop. One part of Piaget’s theory
involves incorporating new experiences into the old ones. That is why it is important to touch on
previous topics and lessons so the class can build information. Another important factor is
allowing students to create their own path of learning, as long as they end up at the original goal
created.
Overall, the teacher and student hold equally valued roles in the journey of education.
Both roles should come motivated and prepared to do their part every day. A classroom should be
an encouraging place where students feel comfortable exploring new information and skills. I
believe with a good education experience students will be able to reach their full potential.
Being able to assist in the process of learning is a very important and amazing role to play.
