E-portfolio Reflection Questions

1. One connection I could make from this class to another it would be about the food myths.
The food myth that avoiding all fats will help you loose weight. In biology, my professor
brought out his myth and she explained why this is false. She explained that fats are
essential for our bodies. That they give our bodies the energy and to support cell growth.
They play other roles like protecting your organs, keeping you body temperature stable,
and promote hormonal balance.

2. For me personally, this class brought on a new type of mental thinking. Before I took this
class, I had now idea what the Yama’s were. But after having to do the Yama assignment
that was a big turning point to me. Everyone is different some things have more meaning
to other while somethings don’t. But including some of the Yama’s in my life, defiantly
had a more of a meaningful impact for me. Now my assumption for this class was that I’d
be like a 20-minute stretching session. Though it wasn’t, I found that starting and ending
of with savasana’s was not only not expected for me, but it also helped me feel like I was
in the present moment.

3. There was a module about obesity and being understand about people’s outward
appearances. I felt like this module added a little more for me and was kind of like a
reminder, that I shouldn’t judge others about their faults. I have faults too and before I
judge and make assumptions about another person, I should try to fix my faults
beforehand.

Signature Assignment

Challenge (Going to bed by 9:30 & No electronics past 8:30)

When I first started the challenge, I was getting in by 9 so that I could be asleep by 9:30. I
realized that because I always stayed up late it took me longer than 30 minutes to fall asleep. The
first three nights I would lay in bed for about an hour before I fell asleep but around the fourth
night, I could feel my body getting tired around 9:30. Though my goal was to be asleep by 9:30
so I just continued to get in bed by 9. I believe that because I eliminated my contact with
electrons at 8:30, it made it easier for my body to wine down and get relaxed. I'm not really a
social media person so I didn't have any trouble quitting completely. Some nights it’s easy for
me to fall asleep by 9:30 but I still struggle from time to time. I will continue to condition my
body to start to feel tired around 9.

Present reflection

This is one challenge that I am still currently trying to keep incorporated. Things do come up and
sometimes I haven’t been able to fall through but I would say that because of this my regular
bedtime is around 10 to 10:30. Which is pretty could compared to past records.
