3. Question numbers 3 to 5 carry two marks each. These are to be answered in about 30 words.
4. Question numbers 6 to 15 carry three marks each. These are to be answered in about 50 words.
5. Question numbers 16 to 21 carry five marks each. These are to be answered in about 70 words.
6. Question numbers 22 to 27 carry two marks each. These are practical based questions.
7. There is no overall choice in the paper. However, internal choice is provided in 3 questions of 3 marks,
2 questions of 5 marks and 1 question in PBQ Section.
8. Use of calculator is not permitted.
9. It is mandatory to use Blue/Black Pen to write the answer.

Q10. When electricity is passed through an aqueous solution of sodium chloride, it decomposes to form a
compound ‘A’ and gases ‘B’ and ‘C’ are given off. Gas ‘C’ is used as a fuel and gas B is used for water
treatment. Name the process and identify the products ‘A’, ‘B’ and ‘C’. Write the chemical equation for the
reaction and also write the electrode at which gases ‘B’ and ‘C’ are given off. [1+2]
