ORG. CHART AND CHECKLIST ON SCHOOL FACILITIES

School is an institution that provides instruction. It is the primary avenue of

teaching and learning process.

I and my buddy were assigned to observe at DCNHS (Davao City National High
School). At the first day, we were oriented well and introduced us the rules inside the
school and also the proper segregation of waste.

At our last day at DCNHS, I and my buddy checked the school facilities. As we
observed there is not enough space to accommodate all the students.

We observed the TLE laboratories since we were assigned there because of our
course and field. The laboratories are well arranged able o students to be educated in the
field of Technology, electronics and many more that is lined in the Livelihood and
Technical works. Which is the aim of k-12 program that they will fully equipped when
they finish junior high as well as senior high.

One element of our study involved evaluating the quality of the facilities. The
construction of some rooms is not helpful, which are very opened and the students can
easily be destructed. But despite of that, the classrooms still maintains the orderliness and
cleanliness of the room and also the proper ventilation is also present. The school
facilities help the students to suffice their needs in terms of comfortable environment and
adequate resistance of school.

The Classroom Environment

I and my buddy were asked to observe the section Grade

As we enterec the class that we were assigned to, I and my buddy was a bit
shocked and amazed. There is only boys in this sections, then I realized it is because of
their field which is electronics. So, we conclude that girls really don’t like this subject.

We seated at the back portion of the room. There are two students which is also
from UsEP doing their FS which is practicum. I observed that they really catches the
attention of the students, and the students are very attentive to their teaching.

Then after all the sections are already done of their classes, I observed that all of
the sections are they same, that they really gave attention to their teacher.

Since that room is the only that we should observed. That room is presentable,
even though its not newly constructed, it is widely opened and the chairs is not that
normal. But its giving the students fresh air, and the space is enough for them to do their
tasks, or doing some on-hand activities.

Communication Skills

The german author Tomas Mann quoted that communication or more specifically
speech as “civilization itself”. Mann believed that “the word”, even the most
contracdictory word preserves contact its silence which isolates. Communication is a
complex process, but one that is full of rewards.

As we observed with my buddy in all the sections and classes under of our CT
(Cooperating Teacher) we’ve gathered some facts and information about the students
listening skills and response towards our CT.

This FS1 is a great route for us to experience. We found that if the teacher is
smooth and good in approaching his/her students there is a great motivation and respect
to listen to the teacher. Effective listening involves more than just hearing, or the
reception of sound. It takes of concentration and effort to be a good educator. There
should be an effective communication to be able to have a good listening.

I and my buddy have a enjoyable and unforgettable experience in FS 1, seeing the real
sate of the classroom and the essence of it together with the students. All the

After 3rd and 4th Class Observation

During the 3rd and 4th observation with my buddy, I could really express my
thoughts regarding students performances, their attitudes and specially their different
personalities in terms of class discussion, activities and of course quizzes. Student
performance is affected when environmental situations occur, the dive to learn is moved
by the rampant situations.

PERSONAL REFLECTION ON PORTFOLIO

While compiling all the things and observations that I’ve observed is not that
easy. The guts and the perseverance to finish this portfolio as much as possible is really a
great pressure. Thanks to the people behind this pressure and made things easy. Though,
these papers are highly concerned with what I have witnesses in the school facilities,
classrooms and the attitude of the learners during my observation hours.

This portfolio is the fruit of my hardships in my FS1, I encountered so

much obstacles while doing this but I always believe that in every ending there is a lesson
to be realized. Just like realizing that this portfolio will be a footpath of becoming a
teacher in the near future.

I believe that learning is a process that builds upon experience and reflection.
While finishing this portfolio gives me the courage and inspires me to become a
professional teacher someday. I’m very thankful for this portfolio for it gives me a big
contribution, especially for the upcoming years of a life being an effective educator.
