Second Sunday of Easter (Divine Mercy Sunday)

“As the Father has sent Me, so I send you!” As Jesus gives witness to God’s love and forgiveness, each
of us is called to live this same mission. Parents and spouses have the opportunity to give witness
to the faithful love of God for each other. They do this in the way they hold each other accountable
to live the Gospel and in time they mercifully forgive and reconcile.
382 Holy Hours were kept before the Blessed Sacrament this past week. The upcoming
event for all committed adorers is a “Covered Dish Dinner.” It will take place on
Saturday, June 29 in the School Activities Center (SAC) following the 4:00pm Mass. All
committed adorers will be contacted by their captains. You will be allowed to bring one
guest and a covered dish to feed 6-8 people. We sincerely hope that all Committed
Adorers take part in this event. We have done a Covered Dish Dinner once before, it was a
wonderful success. For questions, please contact Gene Ryan at 330-690-9661. Keep an eye on the
bulletin for more information.

Pastor’s Formed Pick of the Week: “Divine Mercy”
Renowned speaker and author Fr. Michael Gaitley tells the dramatic history of
God’s love and mercy as interwoven through the transformative message of St.
Faustina, the miraculous appearance of Mary at Fatima, the witness of Maximilian
Kolbe and the world-changing papacy of Pope St. John Paul II. Featuring the brilliant
cinematic artistry of the Augustine Institute’s film studio, the vast panorama of God’s
works of mercy in the world unfolds as a story to be experienced. Lord Jesus we trust
in you!

Christ’s Peace!

Beginning today Divine Mercy Sunday, we will be changing our Communion Rite posture to
reflect the original policy, first established in 2003. We will remain standing after the Lamb of
God, throughout the distribution and reception of Holy Communion and the singing of the
Communion Hymn, until the end of the distribution of Holy Communion. Once the last person
has received Holy Communion, and the Communion Hymn ends, the faithful may kneel or sit for
private prayer.

Support the Catholic Home Missions Appeal today! Right now, over 40% of dioceses in the United
States are considered mission territory because they are unable to fund essential pastoral work in
their communities. Your donations support programs, such as religious education, seminary
formation, and lay ministry training; to build vibrant faith communities right here in the United
States. Please be generous. Find more information at www.usccb.org/home-missions.

When using the kneelers please do not allow them to hit the floor hard. It is
not only a huge distraction to others but it is causing them to wear down and
break. Please be gentle.

There is still time to sign up. Have you made your Confirmation yet? It is feasible
that some adults have not received the Sacrament of Confirmation for one reason or the
other. St. Augustine would like to invite adults who have not been confirmed to consider
doing so this year. Fr. Bill Browne is inviting all Catholic men and women who have
already been baptized, made your First Confession and have received your First Holy
Communion to work with him to get ready to be confirmed here at St. Augustine Church on
Sunday, June 2 at the 10:30 Mass. Preparation will be held in the Rectory, Thursday, May
2 and 16 beginning at 7:00pm. Please contact the rectory (330-745-0011) if you wish to be
