Teaching Philosophy
The resident has developed a teaching philosophy that is clear, concise, and reflective. The resident has considered his or her
own personal approach to teaching and precepting.

Comments:
Not started yet; we did briefly discuss some themes she wants to exhibit as an educator. I encouraged her to
reflect and add to these themes for a framework for her philosophy. A deadline for a draft of the teaching
philosophy was set as March 31st to enable time for feedback and revisions before the due date of the portfolio

1st.
The resident has included teaching materials (handouts, cases, presentations) that reflect his or her teaching philosophy.
Yes, she has saved these from her previous lecture. Additionally, I plan to review them for her March lectures.
Comments:

The resident includes feedback from lectures and presentations given from students, peers, and/or preceptors.
She has collected feedback from preceptors/peers, but does not yet have student feedback as she has only had
Comments: one lab with students thus far. She plans to solicit feedback from the APPE student in January as well as other
teaching opportunities which arise.

Resident Reflection of Teaching

The resident has provided self-reflection following each lecture highlighting areas that he or she did exceptionally well during
the lecture, as well as opportunities for improvement. If a lecture or presentation was repeated, did the resident adequately
reflect what was done differently to make the lecture successful?
Not covered in our discussion, but will provide feedback to Si-Ing about completing this for today's teaching
Comments: experience as well as future experiences

Is the portfolio organized in a clear and concise manner?

Comments: N/A - she is on track for completing hours, but has not yet organized a portfolio

Teaching Log
Is the teaching log updated by the resident as lectures or presentations are given? Does the resident appear to be on target
to complete the minimum requirements for IPTeC?
Yes, she has completed or scheduled teaching experiences to meet the requirements. In addition to these, she
Comments: still needs to create a teaching philosophy, solicit student feedback, and complete self-reflections of her
teaching experiences.
