WELCOME ADDRESS

To our dear School Directress, S. Luzviminda G. Mojica, FdCC and the Canossian Sisters
present, to Mrs. Ma. Cecilia T. Llorente, Ma. Ed, our High School Principal and the rest of the School
Administration present, to Mr. Gerardo Dela Mar and the rest of the Faculty present, to Ms. Elanie
Suavengco and Mr. Ryan Suministrado, colleagues, students and friends, A blissful afternoon to all of
you.

Neil Armstrong, the first human to ever step on the surface of the moon in 1969 once said and I
quote: “Research is the creation of new knowledge”. With that, the modern era was born out of the quest
for answers to questions that has lingered on humanity for ages. This noble quest became the backbone
for what we now call as RESEARCH. Although pain-staking and tiresome, Research has indeed left a
mark in Man’s history both on the local and global stage. It has given rise to advancements in Medicine
as well as Politics and Economics, which in turn has benefited man from the skyscrapers of New York
to the Deserts of Africa. Seeing the opportunity that Filipinos will get from it, the Department of
Education, in its implementation of the K-12 Basic Education Curriculum, chose Research as one of the
courses for students in Senior High School, for not only will it help students advance in their academic
studies in College, but that it promotes the value of patience, critical-thinking and honesty, virtues
mostly needed by 21st Century Learners.

In connection to it, we, the Seniors of the High School Department, from the Humanities and
Social Sciences strand and the Accountancy and Business Management strand, in our earnest desire to
preserve the value of Research into this prestigious institution, have organized this week dedicated to
highlighting not only our own researches but rather the cause of research itself, so that Canossians
would not only see Research as a burden mentally and financially, but rather as an integral part of our
on-going transformation towards a globalized and innovated world, hence the theme for this week:
Research: A Road to Globalization!

With joyful hearts and in behalf of all Seniors, I personally welcome you all to the 1 st Senior
High School Research Week, as we launch our Research Exhibit. May the presentations and visuals you
will behold during the week be our humble legacy as we go forth on these last stretch of journey in High
School in Canossa and moreover inspire all of us to dare the extra mile, go outside of our comfort zones
and conduct our personal researches, not for our own benefit, but for the common good.

May all of our researches lead us, like our Mother Foundress, St. Magdalene of Canossa to look
and follow the same example, none other than Christ the Lord, our Master and Teacher. Inspice et fac
secundum exemplar.

Thank you so much for your unwavering support and presence. Enjoy the rest of the day and
May the gracious Lord bless and keep us all in His wisdom and love. Mabuhay!
