I am contacting you with interest in the position advertised at your school district. I am
highly interested in this position and have attached my resume that outlines all that I have to offer to
your school. Here is a brief overview:
My most recent qualification for this position includes my upcoming bachelor’s degree in
Elementary Education from Dakota State University. While obtaining this degree I have spent my
senior year student teaching in Mr. Erickson’s 5th grade classroom at Elkton Elementary. During this
time, I have been working on advancing my classroom management skills while also creating and
implementing lessons in math, reading, science, and social studies. One of my greatest
accomplishments during this time was implementing Prodigy Math. This is an online game-based
learning tool that aligns the students’ learning to the state standards. This alignment not only
prepares students for the next grade but also works to prepare them for the SMARTER Balanced test
during the spring.
In addition to my time student teaching, I have previous experience in various classroom
settings. In each of these settings I was able to observe different teachers’ strategies, implement my
own strategies, and teach lessons. I have also used the skills that I gained during these experiences to
serve as a substitute teacher in various classrooms. Outside of my time in the standard classroom I
have spent time volunteering in my church nursery and multiple Sunday school classes. Each of
these experiences have helped prepare me for my future in this career.
With my skill set and track record, I would be a valuable addition to your school district. I
