INTRODUCTION:

There are many factors which help in the development of a country, and Higher

Education is one of them. One of the major sources of earning for universities is International

students, if the rate of admission in a university is high, then more are the chances of

becoming recognised university on an international level, and that is the actual mission of

most of the universities worldwide. But along with these facts, the economy of UK is such a

platform where people can find opportunities for all age groups, their different background

and culture. The capital city of UK is London full of its culture. The universities in the UK

promote quality education based on developing skills and traits which focus on the

requirement and demand from employers all around the world. This research is about on the

factors which motivate students to study in the UK. There are numerous positive explanations

behind understudies to contemplate abroad and with appropriate direction and understanding;

the experience of concentrate abroad can be advantageous for both the worldwide

understudies and the college also. The two gatherings can help each other to make a decent

qualified individual who can serve his nation and high help the name of college too by

sharing his insight. There is a need to build a feeling of network and condition of cooperating

which accordingly will expand the number of worldwide understudies in the UK.

LITERATURE REVIEW:

As far as the motivation to study abroad is concerned, there is a long and increasing

discussion about it. According to some studies, the main benefit for students is exposure,

independence and confidence, along with having more cross-culture capabilities (Foster,

2014). Moreover, there are a number of researches for international students on factors of

choosing abroad for studies such as quality education, personal reasons, expected educational

benefits, culture, finance and expected social life (Wilkins, 2012). In 2014, according to the

report of UK Council for International Student Affairs, the number of students enrolled in
FACTORS THAT MOTIVATE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT TO STUDY IN UK 4

2012 to 2013 academic year was 428,265. There are 15% of international students in the total

number of students in the United Kingdom. The one third of income of universities are based

on the fees of international students (Brown, 2018), and according to a rough idea by 2025 it

will increase the economy of UK by 26 billion (Andrade, 2016) by expanding the stance of

home students and teachers (Lillyman, 2017) and providing the chance to become an active

contributors to the knowledge economy (Tange, 2012). Studying in abroad for the

international student is a good chance to reform their stance for their life ahead (Chamorro-

Premuzic, 2016). Presently multi-day examining abroad has turned into a pattern particularly

in created nations. The investigation detailed in this section inspected the demeanour of

universal understudies to contemplate the UK utilising a blended technique approach

including questions. The point of this investigation is to discover the elements of inspiration

to consider in the UK, the advantages and issues also. The elements include in inspiration are

the entrenched economy of UK, secure future and appeal. There are numerous positive

motivations to pick the UK as a goal for studies. There are some negative perspectives also.

This writing view investigation how understanding, arranging and bolster colleges can offer

to persuade understudies to ponder in these colleges. For worldwide understudies, The United

Kingdom is the second most popular choice after the United States. It is recommended that

the chances to take in abilities sought after from such colleges make the future secure and

enhance certainty and freedom.

When contrasted with different nations like USA the expense of concentrate in the

UK is much reason, which is the essential factor that rouses understudies to examine in the

UK. Another imperative factor identified with expense is giving grants. So these two cost

productive elements are more appealing methods for affecting universal understudies which

can advance examination in the UK. It is additionally a vital factor which has a constructive

outcome and negative impact too on understudies from various nations and diverse dialect.
FACTORS THAT MOTIVATE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT TO STUDY IN UK 5

The vast majority of the understudies need to learn English as it is a worldwide dialect and is

an exceptionally useful specialised instrument in business and universal dimension, so they

choose to think about abroad in English talking nation to learn English. Then again a few

understudies who are not commonplace to dialect can get anxious. This reality can be

motivation to influence understudy to comprehend the connection between dialect

enhancement and better alternatives of business; this understanding propels the worldwide

understudies to think about abroad, so the UK is the best choice. As indicated by past

research colleges of UK are great chances to get talented attributes alongside concentrates

like advancement, certainty, and great relational abilities are improved in colleges of the UK

which is the essential necessity of representatives in this day and age. So the UK is a decent

choice for quality instruction which adds to draw in worldwide understudies. As we took in

before from Brown and Holloway (2008), understudies go to the United Kingdom for

expanding their insight about the way of life of the host nation and offer the social distinction

in a situation of learning. Those colleges which have universal understudies ought to know

about qualities, conventions, and convictions (Chalungsoth and Schneller, 2011). To run a

worldwide association, it is important to remember the social distinction of the understudies,

data about worldwide issues, their autonomy and nature of breaking down and giving

arrangements (Hill, 2012). As per Douglas et al. (2006), the most astounding effect on

universal understudy is of learning and educating. Anyway the physical condition is the

littlest vital factor. The earth is a more unmistakable factor of learning than the classroom.

There are some reasons which make international students to select the United

Kingdom for studies. Goldbart et al. (2005) noticed that the two factors are also important in

selecting the UK for studies, language and the primitive and frontier relation of the country of

a student with the UK. He also noticed that another important factor was the quality

presentation which motivated students to study abroad. Many writers point out the reasons
FACTORS THAT MOTIVATE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT TO STUDY IN UK 6

like to learn English (Amaechi, 2015), to get knowledge of culture (Edelstein, 2014) and to

achieve better career possibilities (Teichler, 2014). The reputation of the country regarding

hospitality and service (Pereda et al., 2007) and financial position and personal problems are

also other important factors (Goldbart et al., 2005).

The factors that motivate a student to study abroad are sometimes the financial

investments carried out by the student, his family and the owners (Evans and Stevenson,

2011). Honour from parents, ambitions and approval from social circle to study abroad may

all be related to with the investment. Such awards help to find out the external objectives like

financial favourable outcome, health and admiration while internal objectives are good

relations, improvised social life and self-grooming. (Chirkov et al., 2007). The vast majority

of the understudies need to learn English as it is a worldwide dialect and is an exceptionally

useful specialised instrument in business and universal dimension, so they choose to think

about abroad in English talking nation to learn English. The factors that make the student

study abroad can also be stressful for the student. These reasons or factors are pointed out

like “adaptation” cultural distress (Brown and Holloway, 2008; Erichsen and Bolliger, 2011;

Campbell, 2010; Khaway and Stallman, 2011) and “nostalgia” (Chalungsoth and Schneller,

2011).

The Most famous model of international student choice is the push-pull model

(Mazzarol and Soutar, 2002) which focus on holding the main obstacles and facilitators the or

student to choose a specific destination for studies. The model identifies factors which help to

make a decision for abroad studies, is called push factors. These factors are low educational

quality in the home country, preference of employers for students who got the education from

overseas, lack of opportunities, economic and political factors of the home country. On the

other side, pull factors include the quality education, reputation, high employment rate and

experience of new culture in the host country (Wikins, Stephens Balakrishnan and Huisman,

2012). To the extent the inspiration to examine abroad is worried there is a long and

expanding discourse about it. As per a few examinations, the primary advantage for

understudies is introduction, freedom, and certainty, alongside having more cross-culture

abilities (Carlson and Widaman, 1988; Vincenti, 2011; Dwyer and Peters, 2004). In addition,

there is a number of investigates for worldwide understudies on components of picking

abroad for concentrates, for example, quality instruction, individual reasons, expected

instructive advantages, culture, fund and expected public activity (Bodycott, 2009; Li and

Bray 2007: Padlee, Kamaruddin, and Baharun, 2010). In 2014, as per the report of UK

Council for worldwide Student Affairs, the number of understudies enlisted in 2012 to 2013

scholarly year was 428,265. There are 15% of worldwide understudies in all-out number of

understudies of the United Kingdom. The 33% of salary of colleges depend on the charges of

worldwide understudies (Brown and Holloway, 2008), and as per an unpleasant thought by

2025 it will build the economy of UK by 26 billion (Andrade, 2006) by extending the

position of home understudies and educators (Bartram, 2008; Charles-Toussaint and

Crowson, 2010; Wang, 2012) and giving the opportunity to end up a functioning supporters

of the information economy (Tange and Jensen, 2012). Concentrate abroad for the worldwide

understudy is a decent opportunity to change their position for their life ahead (Furnham,

2004).

To illustrate the objective of this research we will further explain the factors involved

which are extracted from the previous researches.

Cost:

As compared to other countries like USA the cost of studying in the UK is much

affordable, which is the most important factor that motivates students to study in the UK.

Another important factor related to cost is providing scholarships. So these two cost-efficient

factors are more attractive means of influencing international students which can promote

study in the UK.

Language:

It is also an important factor which has a positive effect and negative effect as well on

students from different countries and different language. Most of the students want to learn

English as it is an international language and is very helpful communication tool in business

and international level, so they decide to study abroad in English speaking country to learn

English. On the other hand, some students who are not familiar with language can get

nervous. This fact can be a reason to make the student understand the link between language

improvement and better options of employment, this understanding motivate the international

students to study abroad, so the UK is the best option.

Attributes and demand:

According to previous research universities of UK are good opportunities to get

skilled traits along with studies like innovation, confidence, and good communication skills

are enhanced in universities of the UK which is the basic requirement of employees in today's

world. So the UK is a good option for quality education which contributes to attracting

international students.

Cultural Difference:

As we learned before from Brown and Holloway (2008) students comes to the United

Kingdom for increasing their knowledge about the culture of the host country and share the

cultural difference in an environment of learning. Those universities which have international

students should be aware of values, traditions and beliefs (Chalungsoth and Schneller, 2011).

To run an international organisation, it is necessary to keep the cultural difference of the

students in mind, information about global affairs, their independence and quality of

analysing and providing solutions (Hill, 2012).

FACTORS THAT MOTIVATE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT TO STUDY IN UK 9

Physical Environment:

According to Douglas et al. (2006), the highest impact on the international student is

of learning and teaching. However, the physical environment is the smallest important factor.

The environment is the more prominent factor of learning than the classroom.

Research questionnaire:

The research questions are good to help of suggestions from different students and

different universities of The United Kingdom. The questionnaire included such question like

why did you choose the UK for study, planning to the job in the UK or home country,

networking, improvement in English, postgraduate study, the experience of study in the UK

etc. The result was as follows

The result of another university was;

The study suggested that these questions are the basic factors of motivation for international

students to study in the UK. There are always two sides of situations positive and negative.

The positive factors of studying in the UK are more than its negative factors which makes the

UK a good opportunity as compared to other countries.

CONCLUSION:

So we can conclude that there are many positive reasons for students to study abroad

and with proper guidance and understanding the experience of studying abroad can be

beneficial for both the international students and the university as well. Both parties can help

each other to make a well-qualified person who can serve his country and high lighten the

name of the university as well by sharing his knowledge. There is a need to increase a sense

of community and environment of working together which as a result will increase the

number of international students in the UK. There are numerous variables which help being

developed of a nation and Higher Education is one of them. One of the significant

wellsprings of procuring for colleges is International understudies, in the event that the rate of

affirmation in a college is high, more are the odds of getting to be perceived college on a

global dimension, and that is the genuine mission of the vast majority of the colleges around

the world. In any case, alongside these realities, the economy of UK is such a stage where

individuals can discover open doors for all age gatherings, their diverse foundation and

culture. The capital city of UK is London brimming with its way of life. The colleges in UK

advance quality instruction dependent on creating aptitudes and characteristics which centre

around the necessity and request from bosses all around the globe. This exploration is about

on the variables which propel understudies to contemplate in the UK.
