Philosophy of Teaching Statement

Every teacher that I have ever had has been different, because every teacher is different.

All teachers have different qualities, and different teaching habits. Not only is that based solely

on the teacher, but you also have to find how they will fit with the children in your class. It has to

fit in every aspect of the class.

In my classroom, no matter what the childrens personality are, I do expect the same out

of all of my students. The children should be attentive and paying attention while I am talking. I

would want all of the children to be engaged and involved with whatever lesson or activity we

are doing. I want them to have fun with whatever they are learning and share new information

with other classmates. I would want to encourage each child to be creative and think out of the

box and allow them to have opinions on whatever we are learning about. I want to see where

they are coming from and how they learn. I would want all of my children to respect not only me

but also all of their classmates. I would also like for my students to be able to feel relatable and

comfortable with me. I would want them to be able to talk to me about their problems, school or

non-school related. The children should have some sort of bond with their teacher.

A teacher really needs to think about their role in the classroom. The teacher sends off

vibes to the whole class. The first thing I would think about in my classroom is punishment. As

the teacher I would not purposely call a child out in front of everyone. I would ask them to
politely stop, or if something is a constant problem, I would talk to the child one on one. I would

never want to embarrass a child in front of their peers or lower their self-asteem. I would want to

be fun but also somewhat firm, I am still their teacher. I would want to learn my childrens

creativity levels and how each of them learns so I can play up their abilities. Every student learns

differently, and it is the teacher’s job to make sure that you attend to every students needs and

weaknesses.

The curriculum plays an important role in the classroom. The curriculum I present to my

class will be structured. It will be planned out ahead of time. I want the curriculum to be fun

where the kids enjoy learning about what I am teaching them. With whatever curriculum I am

presenting them, I will come up with an activity that puts the curriculum to good use. I want the

children to be hands on with the things they are learning about so they can not only read about

what I am teaching them, but also see it put to use. It is a great way for children to learn and to

see a concept presented in more than one way. I would want the curriculum to challenge the

children but keep it on their ability level and push them to really think about what I am teaching

them. I want them to question it and give their opinions about what they are learning. It will help

them understand it better.

The way I see my classroom, my children, and myself is my philosophy. Every teacher

has their own. Overall it is the way the teacher wants things done and what they expect when

they teach. This is what I want out of my students and myself.
