nism for whistleblower information by
providing some ‘incentives’. The legis-
lation will provide a mechanism for
whistleblower information relating to
corruption and to protect information
provider, in order to protect
whistleblowers from disadvantageous
measures such as removal from office,
disciplinary action and intimidation etc.
“In order to give incentive to
whistleblowers, the bill provides re-
wards but also to discourage false in-
formation it also provides punishment
for them,” according to statement of
objects and reasons of the bill. The
clause related to ‘protection to the
whistleblower’, “the commission shall
ensure that no whistleblower is
victimised by disadvantageous mea-
sures or otherwise merely on the
ground that such whistleblower had
made a whistleblower information or

dignity. Besides, everyone will be able
to report against all those who owns

their known income or salary. The cor-
ruption in Pakistan is at its peak. Ac-

HIV/AIDS cases

Aids  Control  Programme
(SACP) has submitted detailed
report  to  the  federal  govern­
ment  on reporting  of  HIV/
AIDS  cases  in children  and
adults in Rathodero.
According  to  official
sources, the screening of local
population  for  HIV/AIDS  is
continued  in  surrounding  vil­
lages to know the exact num­
ber  of  affected  persons  from
the  disease.

cial government had completed
the screening of 4102 persons
so far during last nine days out
of  which  157  persons  were
confirmed HIV positive.
In  these  157  HIV  con­
firmed  cases,  127  were  chil­
dren while 30 were adults from

ISLAMABAD (APP): Punjab
Commission on Status of
Women  conducted  a  survey
here Monday revealed that in
Punjab  the  Labor  Force  Par­
ticipation rate of women was
low as it comprised up to only
36.3  percent.
According  to  the survey
women’s  labor  force  partici­
pation  faces  specific barriers,
24.9  percent  in  Urban  areas
of  Punjab  whereas  43.4  per­
cent of women were in labor
force.  The  survey  finds  that
the  majority  of  women  aged
15­64 years in the Punjab cite
at  least  one  factor  which  is
barrier to their working.
This percentage is
slightly lower in rural areas of
the Punjab as compared to ur­
ban  areas.  The  most  quoted
barrier was lack of qualifica­
tion  followed  by  lack  of  ap­
propriate  job  opportunities
and  domestic  work  care  re­
sponsibilities.
Punjab has the high rate
of  unpaid  women workers
with percentage  of 45  where
as home based  workers were
concerned, they were 19 per­
cent, it added. Women, in vul­
nerable employment were 66
per  cent  with  77  percent  of
women who  were earning
below minimum wages  in
Punjab. Survey  says  that
women employment were
highly  found  with  non  con­
tractual  status  with  84  per­
cent. Survey  stressed that
