The Barn Owl has a white heart-
shaped face and white chest with
small brown spots. The back is tawny,
marked with black and white spots.
The Barn Owl is one of the most
widely distributed birds in the world,
found on all continents except
Antarctica.
Call is a drawn-out, hissing scream.
Barn Owls eat small mammals,
especially rodents. They also eat birds,
reptiles, and insects.

• The Spotted owl is a medium-sized,
brown owl with a barred tail, white
spots on the head and breast, and
dark brown eyes surrounded by
facial disks.
• The call is a series of four spaced
notes with the two middle ones
closest together, "hup, hoo-hoo,
hooo."
• Spotted owls live in coniferous
forests with canopy cover at low
and moderate elevations.
• The Spotted Owl eats small
mammals like flying squirrels, wood
rats, mice, voles and also some
birds, reptiles, amphibians, and
insects.
