A. Strategic Audit Report - 25%

You are required to select Malaysia’s company.

Please provide the information and do the analyses as follows:

1. Identify strategic issues or problems appear in organization’s current

situation.
2. Analyze a company's internal and external environment and identify
strategic long-term direction, its resources and competitive capabilities
for crafting an appropriate strategy. You can analyze the strategic audit by
analyzing the company’s internal and external forces as suggested below:

Internal Forces:
a) Company’s name
b) Company’s type and the industry
c) Vision, Mission, Objectives and Strategies – You are required to analyze a
vision, mission and objectives of the organization and please discuss
whether these statements fit with company’s stated (current) strategies.
d) The list of BOD
e) The list of Top Management Team
f) Organizational Structure – Please discuss the type of structure – is it
relevant with current business operation?
g) Financial Analysis

External Forces:

a) Please analyze STEEP (Politic, Economy, Social-cultural, Technology,

Ecology which indirectly influence the related industry.
b) Please analyze 5 Forces by Michael Porter.

3. Propose the best strategy/ strategic options/ recommendations to the

management to strengthen the company’s competitive position and future
strategic and financial performance.
- You are suggested to use any strategic tools (e.g. SWOT and TOWS
analysis) in order to analyze the best strategy/ strategic options/
recommendations that can be used by the company.

Assignment should not be less than 25 pages; using APA System.

References are COMPULSORY to support your analyses and discussion.

Strategic Management test comprises of Topic 1 to 6 (refer syllabus).

Tentative date: Week 7.

C. VIDEO CORPORATE PRESENTATION – MANAGERIAL SKILLS – 10%
You are required to work in group. Imagine that you are a group of Consultant from AAA
Consultancy Firm. You are asked by the Company’s BOD to do the strategic audit of the firm.
There will be given a maximum of 5 minutes to present to the BOD by using the video
presentation (to assess time management; motivation).
The video needs to be creative and innovative (i.e: speak / interview/ use graphics/ show
evidences on the audit process; etc) in making the video clip (to assess organization of Ideas).
Below are the details that you need to consider to be included in the video clip:
1. Introduction of the Group members (Imagine you are from AAA Consultant Firm)
2. Company XXX: Strategic Audit
a. Company Profile
b. Company Issues
c. SWOT / TOWS Analysis (to assess ideas, decision making)
d. Recommendations of alternative strategies /
Strategic Solutions (to assess ideas, decision making)
e. Relevant evidences to show that you work in team, the delegation of work,
motivation to complete task, interview session etc (to assess delegation of work;
motivation).
3. It will be the Q&A Session after the presentation.
Presentation Date: Week 14

D. MINI CASE STUDY FOR MANAGERIAL SKILLS- 10%

PART 1: REVIEW A CASE (3 days):
Please read the case. The case is given 3 days before the assessment.

PART 2: ASSESSMENT DAY - ANSWER THE QUESTIONS (30 minutes):

The questions will be given during the assessment. Please discuss the answers in
group. Each group is given a maximum of 30 minutes to do the discussion and
preparation. The groups need to prepare the CREATIVE way to make a PITCH
presentation – presentation with support materials i.e.: poster, ppt slide; white
board; white paper with colourful graphic and fonts, animation, etc

PART 3: PITCHING PRESENTATION (2 minutes)

Each group will be given a maximum of 2 minutes for a pitch presentation.

PART 3: SUBMISSION REPORT (A WEEK AFTER ASSESSMENT)

Please do a REPORT of the case solutions. You can also attach the materials,
photos or pictures used during the assessment day (ppt slides; graphics on the
white board etc).
