ABSTRACT

Abortus provocatus criminalis is an act of abortion for no medical reason and is prohibited by
law and done by unauthorized personnel before the fetus can live outside the womb. Abortus
provocatus criminalis is one of the problems of pregnancy that can cause maternal death.
Abortus provocatus criminalis is estimated to occur in about 2 million cases each year in
Indonesia. The purpose of this study is to provide descriptions and characteristics of patients
post-abortus provocatus criminalis at Palabuhanratu Regional Public Hospital from 2015-
2016. The description includes the number of cases and complications that cause patients to
visit the hospital, while the characteristics are based on the mother's age, parity, gestational
age, education status, marital status and employment status. The method used in this research
was a descriptive method through retrospective study of medical records. The sampling method
used was a total sampling technique. The number of abortus provocatus criminalis cases at the
Palabuhanratu Regional Public Hospital from 2015-2016 was 28. There were 17 cases with
patients aged from 20-35 years old. There were 13 nullipara cases based on parity. The
number of cases based on gestational age of 12-20 weeks were 20. Based on education status,
14 cases were from junior high school and senior high school. Based on marital status, 13
cases were patients who were not married. Based on job status there were 28 cases from
patients who did not have a job and bleeding made up the most complications with 21 cases.
