5 Year Plan

In my situation, I really see myself doing various things that is not related to just

only one academic subject. I will be attending for the next 4 years at Stanford

University, so I see myself doing a lot of things during this time. One passion that I have

is the one for mathematics. I consider math more than just a science, it is also a form of

art. Galileo said that the laws of the universe are written in mathematical language.

Mathematical problems have one solution and oftentimes it is very hard to find it, but

once you find it the feeling of accomplishment is unbelievable.

I am impressed by how a simple formula can contain a lot of information, and

how math is pure logic with minimal memorization. My passion for math started in

elementary school in Mexico. I was the only kid that liked math class. While most of my

classmates despised the subject, I liked to stay after school and talk to the teacher

about future topics. Thanks to math, I enjoy explaining the steps in solving a problem. I

used to help my classmates in Mexico with their homework, and still do in the US.

Sometimes their parents even ask me to go to their house to tutor them for pay, but I

could just do it for fun.

I really enjoy solving math problems so I see myself doing research and helping

professors in solving real-world problems that imply the use of mathematics. Specifically

I would like to have close relationship with the faculty and grad students at stanford in

order to be able to solve problems everytime I can. In terms of my major I will be

majoring in Biomedical Engineering as well than in Economics and finance. I like this
majors because I have a deep passion in medicine as well as the construction of

technological devices. Biomedical Engineering is about how to apply engineering to

medicine and the construction of medical devices which is something I enjoy learning.

For finance I like this career because I think that everyone should have a background in

terms of accounting and how the market works in the world.

Besides all of what I plan to do in college it includes to do some research not only

in mathematics but also in science, specifically biology. I have read that Stanford offers

many research opportunities for undergraduate students in this field so I will be doing

research in this area during my college live.

In terms of extracurricular asides of college, I plan in joining a bunch of clubs in

which I can hold a leadership position. For example the leadership class at stanford

which are the ones organized al the school events. Also science related clubs in which I

can have the opportunity to participate in science olympiads and also being around

guys that enjoy learning about the field. In terms of sports, I plan to join an intramurals

of soccer and running clubs because I really like this sports.

Now the most important thing that I see myself doing is that I want to enlist

myself in the United States Navy as a reserve member while I am in college. I have

always felt a respect towards the military people. I admire their discipline, loyalty and

mindset of teamwork. After college I plan to serve a while in active duty as Navy official

because I always wanted to serve in the military since I got to the US. I am a recent

immigrant and everything I accomplished until this day is thanks to all the opportunities
the US had offered me. I would like to try out for special forces and them become a

paramedic in combat. After that I plan to attend to a medical school and become a

neurosurgeon.

These are my plans for possibly the next 10 years.
