Persuasive Essay
5/7/19
Is the U.S really a country of freedom?. A type of freedom where women don't
fully have control over their own bodies. Abortion has become a controversial issue there are
laws trying to take women's rights on their own body choices. As a female I am against these
proposals to make abortion illegal, a bill in texas has already been approved of women being
able to get the death penalty if they get an abortion, this will only try to spread in other states , I
There are many reasons why a woman may turn to abortion some reasons aren’t just
because they don't want to have a child. Making abortion illegal won’t get rid of woman trying to
avoid birth. Making it illegal will just get rid of unsupervised-safe procedures being done.
The worst part about this issue is that it is the men who have the most to say which is absurd due
to the fact that they have not and will never experience pregnancy or the pain of giving birth. If
abortion really is becoming an issue I feel that women should establish this law.
What bothers people most about abortion is whether or not you are killing a living,
human life. According to researchers, obstetricians, gynecologists and doctors, have states that
abortion should be legal at 22 weeks, this is because the fetus is still not considered a “full-term”
until it has reached around 30 weeks. If it is legal to pull the cord on someone when they are

brain dead even though there is a heartbeat the body cannot function without the brain. I bring
this up because people believe that as soon as there's a heartbeat abortion should not be
considered but if that's the case how come we are able to let someone go even if there is a
heartbeat. That is because without the brain the body doesn't really do much. The brain is what
helps it function .
Although I have given a few reasons you still may be questioning how something like
this can be legal and why do women even consider it. There are many reasons why women
wouldn’t want to keep a baby. The biggest one is rape, the victims don't want to be reminded of
that everytime they look at their baby, finding out their live is going to change over something
they had no control over can be devastating. A second reason is that some women don’t have the
funds for something unexpected, they know they won't be able to care for and nurture a baby the
way is it supposed to be. Some know they don't have what is necessary for their child to have a
good life.
Now, you're probably thinking that if they chose to have unprotected sex they should
accept the consequences and I totally agree with that. What I don't agree with is that protesters
are just thinking about irresponsible adolescents making these mistakes and not thinking about
women who either have medical or traumatic issues and abortion is a choice for them . Another
opinion I hear a lot too , is if the problem is women not wanting to raise the baby then they can
give them up for adoption. As of right now there are 443,000 children up for adoption in the U.S
3
only 62% get adopted each year. Putting more kids in the system will make them feel unwanted.
There are too many children and not enough families wanting to adopt.
In conclusion abortion should be kept legal and be an option to those who really need it.
It is something that women go through with their bodies, which shouldn’t even be questioned
because it is their choice and their right to make these types of decisions with themselves,
