“STUDENTS’ATTITUDE, INTEREST AND TEACHING APPROACH IN
RELATIONSHIP WITH ACHIEVEMENT IN MATHEMATICS”. A Research
Study. Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Mathematics, Cavite State
University Indang, Cavite. December 2018. Adviser: Mr. Benjarde C. Desor

The paper shows the attitude, interest and teaching approach in relationship

with achievement in mathematics of the selected Grade 7 students of Constancio E.

Aure Sr. Nathional High School. The main purpose of this study was to determine

demographic profile of the participant in terms of age and gender, to determine if

there is a relationship between attitudes and achievement in mathematics, to

determine if there is a relationship between interest and achievement in mathematics,

and to determine if there is a relationship between approach and achievement in

mathematics. Data was compiled from the 30 non – convenient participant of the

research study using Likert scale. After the data analysis, the findings are concluded:

The overall correlation between attitude and achievement in math is – 0. 025

which is a negative follow by the correlation between interest and achievement in

math is - 0.058 which is a negative. Then the correlation between teachers’ approach

and achievement in math is – 0.045 which is a negative. It implies that there is no

relationship between students’ attitude, interest, and teachers’ approach in relation

with achievements in mathematics of Grade 7 students of Constancio E. Aure Sr.

National High School.

vi
The relationship between students’ attitude, interest, and teachers’ approach in

does not really affect the Grade 7 students’ in their achievement in mathematics.

Attitudes in mathematics can be positive or negative depending on their

perception in mathematics as well as the interest. Students’ interest in the subject can

make them feel pressured or motivated in learning and understanding mathematics.

Teachers’ approach are depends on the teachers’ strategy on achieving the lesson

objectives. The result is fall to no significant relationship.
