Reflection on the Superhero Campaign Project

In my 12th grade American Government and Politics class we were asked to make a

political campaign for a fictional character of our choosing. I chose Albus Dumbledore from the

Harry Potter series.

I chose this piece for American Government and Politics class because it shows my

creativity. I learned a lot about our state history in this class, but most, if not all, the things we

were taught about the American government system I was familiar with. It has been a few years

since learning about these topics, and so I had forgotten a lot. This piece reflects the fun I had in

this class as well as the creativity required for each project.

The only challenge I had with this piece was deciding which of the many fictional

characters that I was going to do. It didn’t take long, however, so it wasn’t as much of a

challenge. I have a very active imagination and as a result could easily figure out how to answer

the questions included in this project.

This piece showcases a personal strength which is creativity because I took a

well-known fictional character (Albus Dumbledore) and made up his opinions on important

political issues, even though he, as a character, knows absolutely nothing about these issues. I

had to write down my assumptions based on his personality and vaguely similar issues the

character faced in the books he is in.

This piece represents a moment in my journey as a Beacon student because it shows

the kind of work I am capable of doing when there are no extenuating circumstances. In the

middle of the school year, I had a huge crisis. Everything was halted so I could deal with what

was going on, and as a result I was not capable of doing my best or even, in most cases, doing
much of anything in my classes. This piece was made after the crisis ended, and it captures the

creativity I am capable of.
