Maintenance Manager

Job Description:
The Maintenance Manager position will lead and direct the activities of personnel
responsible for implement all applicable maintenance and reliability standards for
a large extrusion manufacturing operation. This position will direct the inspection,
maintenance, monitoring, and reliability of all equipment. They will manage and
lead the planning, scheduling and execution of maintenance activities and
responsible for ensuring quality maintenance work is executed according to site
and industry best practices and standards. They will be responsible for building
and maintaining a robust parts inventory system to support all equipment.

1. Establish and execute Preventative & Predictive Maintenance programs


for all production equipment systems and facility components.
2. Lead the change from reactive to proactive maintenance environment.
3. Develop and execute maintenance strategies that drive preventative and
predictive approaches to improve equipment uptime.
4. Ensure that facility and production equipment are maintained and
operating in a clean, safe and environmentally healthy manner.
5. Coordinate equipment installation, commissioning and start-up.
6. Select, train and motivate maintenance and electrical technicians.
7. Actively engage with the maintenance team in servicing, troubleshooting,
repairing, and installing of a wide variety of manufacturing equipment and
facility components.
8. Coordinate with other departments to ensure quality issues related to
equipment condition and operation are addressed.
9. Maintain equipment in accordance with scheduled preventative
maintenance.
10. Evaluate equipment reliability and take appropriate actions to improve
performances.

11. Provide mechanical expertise when necessary to reduce equipment
downtime.
12. Maintain appropriate logs and records as needed to properly track and
maintain equipment status and maintenance of records.
13. Identify technical problems and provide practical solutions appropriate to
size and complexity of projects.
14. Communicate successfully with other members of the maintenance team
and ensure individual department managers are informed on equipment
availability.
15. Identify safety concerns and initiate corrective action.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Ability to effectively lead teams.


2. Extensive hands-on experience in aluminum extrusion industry.
3. A minimum of 5 years experience as maintenance technician in a
manufacturing environment.
4. A minimum of 8 years experience managing maintenance departments.
5. Proven analytical and field troubleshooting skills.
6. Demonstrated experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC, pipe fitting
and blueprint reading.
7. Practical experience in electrical troubleshooting and repair.
8. Experience with maintenance and parts inventory software.
9. Associates Degree of minimum of 10 years related experience and
training.
10. Exposure with managing a union environment.

Supervisory Responsibility:

This position manages all employees of the department and is responsible for the
performance management and hiring of the employees within said department.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to
fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise
level in the work environment could be loud at times.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be
met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel,
crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities
required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral
vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

This is a full-time position. Days & hours of work are Monday – Friday, 7 am – 3
pm. 40 hours per week. This position requires long hours and occasional
overtime.

Travel:

Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out of area and
overnight travel could be expected.
