wall within the tolerable limits. Guide wall will be cast in 4 quadrants and on completion
and curing period of 7 days of 1st quadrant, Secant Pile driving will be set out and
started by driving in a sequence. Parallely casting for next quadrant will 00 taken up and
driving of secant pile will continue after allowing for minimum curing time of 7 days.
Trench excavation for bottom width of 1900 mm shall be carried out along the secant
/ pile wail centre line for a depth 90 cm from working platform level. The polystyrene
board matching the profile I pattem of hard and soft pile as manufactured is proposed to
be installed by steel pins driven on blinding concrete and tied in the top with binding

5.3 Survey works

Any noticeable variation shall be brought to the attention of the Engineer. The depth of
borehole shall be measured using an end weighted measuring tape and to be recorded in the

5.6 Construction of PUes


The Soft &Hard Pile are constructed in altemate sequence of
construction sequence as follows :-
1st day 50ft piles = S01, 5 02, S 03
2nd day 50ft piles = 5 04, 5 05, S 06
3rd day: Hard piles = H 01, H 02, H 03
4rth day Hard piles = H 04, H 05, H 06
The 50ft Piles are un-reinforced Piles. The characteristic strength of concrete for Soft Piles
shall be 20 N I mm2.

5.7 PUe reinforcement (for Hard Plies)
Subsequent to the completion of the drilling, the borehole depth will be checked and verified
versus the depth given on the drawings. Only after borehole depth check, the reinforcement
Cage will be lowered into the borehole.
A reference site datum level will be given to ensure the correct positioning of the cage.
Spacers shall be fixed to the spiral of the reinforcement cage to ensure the specified cover for

Before commencement of any work, safe working procedure must be followed:

1- General induction or presentation to be given by the safety team or Engineers involved

10- Approved work permits should be kept at site.

11- Close the work permit and make sure that there is no harm to employees or properties.

Responsibilities:

First of all, every person is responsible about him self.

• The company has to provide all the safety tools and equipments needed.

The Engineer and the foreman are at most responsible about the entire health, safety and
environment precaution, before starting the work. The engineer should apply and activate the
safety procedure which is given by the safety team, all the safety instructions have to be
considered.

• If the labour ignores the instruction given by the safety supervisor, engineer or the
foreman, he will be held fully responsible about any harm could happen to employees or
the properties.
• The safety team has to induct, instruct and advice all the working team for any risk they
may into it, how to prevent and avoid the potential hazards at site is essential.

Training:
Training courses will enhance capabilities of employees to work in a safe environment.
• Type of training courses can be decided based on the requirement of the site.

This method statement describes the methodology of earthworks for TLPS area
located in the project site of AI Madina Shamaliya Sewage treatment plant and long
sea outfall.

The purpose of the documentation emanating from this method statement is to


ensure that Health and Safety & Quality control objectives are maintained and
accurate records are established for all related activities.

2.0 SCOPE

This method statement covers the following sections in relations to constructing a


Terminal Lift Pumping Station.

5.0 RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Manager / Management Representative shall;

• Providing necessary support to construction team to complete the project on


time.
• Participating the Coordination meeting with PCC to ensure the project works are
complying PCC AND SANTY OHSE System and the client requirement.

Project Engineer shall be responsible for;

• Coordinating and Arranging the necessary construction equipment and Man


• Coordination with PCC Safety officer to ensure that the works are carried out in
a safe working environment and arranging gate passes and Induction Trainings
• Coordination with surveyor and plan the survey works in advance as per the
work sequence.
• Ensuring the work front and maintaining the continual work flow as per schedule

F. During execution an area of Minimum 16.00 Mtr surrounding the shaft area shall
remain clear of any disruption and the area will be isolated by barriers provided at
site.

G. Excavator LC 220 with Bucket & Rock Breaker will continuously be present inside the
shaft until the final level of excavation is reached. Up to 15.00 Mtr of excavation
depth the excavated material will be removed from shaft by the long boom excavator
which is located top of the shaft. Below 15.00 Mtr depth the excavated material will
be removed by bucket and crane.

H. After reaching of 15.00 Mtr below ground level of excavation, the crane mountable
type Grubber or Sand Bucket to haul the excavated materials from shaft to ground
level and it shall be transported to client designated place:

I. Tower Crane Minimum lifting Capacity of 5 Tons including competent operator shall
be provided to lift the Grubb or bucket from the shaft. The crane movement shall
reach the whole excavation area and the sling Should reach the full depth of
excavation to remove the excavated soil.

J. All the excavated material to be disposed into island no 12.

K. After reaching, the final level of excavation and subject to the approval and
inspection of depth and shall be arrange 200-Ton capacity crane to remove the
excavator from the shaft.

7.0 QUALITY ASSURANCE I CONTROL

All the works shall be complied with procedures described in the Approved Project
Quality Plan of PCC

8.0 HEALTH AND SAFETY

a. The area to be excavated shall be barricaded with safety materials (Safety


Cones, Soft Barricades, warning tapes, safety sign boards, etc.) and fencing to

c. Full time H & S Engineer shall be assigned by PCC to assess the site/excavation

1.0 PURPOSE

This method statement describes the methodology to adopt dewatering system for TLPS
Structure located in AI Madina Shamaliya, Kingdom of Bahrain.

The purpose of the documentation emanating from this method statement is to ensure that
quality control objectives are maintained and accurate records are established for all related
activities.

2.0 SCOPE

This method statement covers the following procedures to be adapted for dewatering system
forTLPS.

3.0 REFERENCE

This document shall be read in conjunction with the following documents;


a. Construction Drawings
b. Works program
c. Shop drawing for Dewater discharge

4.2 EQUIPMENT'S AND TOOLS

4.2.1 The essential equipment to be used for this activity is;

4.3.1 . The required manpower for the execution of foreseen works shall be as per

5.0 RESPONSIBILITIES

Construction Manager shall ensure that;

• Work progress is carried out according to planned program and all the equipment
required to execute the works are available and are available at site in good condition
• CM will liaise with Client and Consultant at site for any critical activity.
• Specific attention is paid to all safety measures and quality control in coordination with
Safety Engineer and QC Engineer in line with HSE Plan and Quality Control Plan.
• CM will monitor and control the daily activities in coordination with Project Engineer,
Foreman and Safety officer.

Project Engineer shall be responsible for;

• Coordination with Safety Engineer to ensure that the works are carried out in a safe
working atmosphere
• Work progress is monitored in accordance with the required program and report the
same to the Construction Manager
• Coordination with QC Engineer for any inspection and testing as required

• Coordination with surveyor and plan the survey works in advance as per the work
sequence
• Implementation of any request that might be raised by the Consultant

QC Engineer shall ensure;

• The carrying out of the works are as per the related quality procedures
• Inspection for the related works and requesting for the Consultant's approval
• Maintenance of completed inspection records
• Will assists by QC inspector

HSE Engineer shall ensure;

• The implementation of all safety measures in accordance with the HSE plan of main
contractor and HSE plan of sub-contractor and that the whole work force is aware of its
proper implementation
• The implementation of safety measures is adequate to maintain a safe working
environment on the site

• Inspection of all the site activities and training personnel for accident prevention and its
proper reporting to the HSE Manager / HSE officer of main contractor WBJV

• The site is maintained in a clean and tidy manner

Surveyor shall be responsible for;

• Setting out of control points and setting out of building at all stages.
• Prepare and submit survey report for prior to inspection.

Foreman shall ensure;

• The carrying out of the work and the proper distribution of all available resources in
coordination with the Project Engineer on a daily basis
• Daily reports of the work are kept and coordinated with the Site Engineer for future
planning
• Incorporate all QA and Safety requirements as requested by the concerned Engineer

• Up on completion of secant pile capping beam, deep well points to be established
prior to start drilling.
• Location of deep well shall be 600 mm away from secant pile.

•:. MAKING OF THE DEEP WELL POINTS
• Up on completion of marking the deep well points, boring of 600 mm diameter will be
started and continued to the bore depth up to (-) 19.000 meters. Deep well casing of
600 mm diameter shall be placed in the bore .

•:. PLACING OF 300 MM SLOTTED PVC PIPE INSIDE THE CASING


• Up on completion of bore & inserting the deep well casing, 300 mm slotted PVC pipe
will be placed into the casing pipe

.:. FILLING OF 20 MM WHITE AGGREGATE AROUND THE SLOTTED PVC PIPE


• Up on completion of placing of slotted PVC pipe in to the casing, 20 mm white
aggregate will be placed around the slotted PVC pipe .

•:. PLACING OF SUBMERGIBLE PUMP AND ELECTRICAL & PLUMBING


CONNECTION
• Up on completion of placing of 20 mm white aggregate around to slotted PVC pipe,
the casing pipe will be removed and submergible pump of 5.5 KVA & 40 m head will
be placed in to the deep well. The estimated yield per submergible pump is 24000
liters per hour. The 8 number Submergible pumps is estimated to generate total yield
of 192000 litres of Water per Hour, i.e 460.8 Cum per day of water.
• Necessary electrical and plumbing connection will be done on installation of
submergible pump into the bore well .

•:. PLACING OF HOSE PIPE FROM PUMP TO SEDIMENTATION TANK AND


DISCHARGE LOCATION
• Up on completion of placing of submergible pump, discharge hose end will be
connected to pump and another end of hose will be laid and connected to the two
numbers of Sedimentation Tank.
• After completion of above, discharge hose to be connected from Sedimentation Tank
to discharge into the Sea.
• Prior consent of Supreme Council of Environment will be taken for the Dewatering
System to be set up for TLPS works.
At the discharge location, Water Sampling initially will be done in the presence of
Supreme Council of Environment Inspector to fulfill the statutory Requirements
before discharge into the Sea .
•:. STARTING OF DEWATERING AND PERCUSSION
• Up on completion of all above activity the de watering activity will start and following
percussion to be taken while dewatering.

• Day and night Supervisor to be deployed to supervise the dewatering activity.


• 2 no of 100 KVA generator will be provided for dewatering activity, one working and
another stand by.
• Enough standby pumps and accessories shall be kept on site to replace incase of
breakdown.
• Pump, cables and hose laid in the System will be protected properly to avoid damage
and accident.

7.0 HELTH AND SAFETY

Specific safety measures shall be implemented as per the Project Safety Plan.
a. The deep well area will be protected with hard barricade (Safety Cones, Hard
Barricades, warning tapes, safety sign boards, flickering lights, etc.) and fencing to
restrict unauthorized entry.
b. Prior to starting of dewatering at site, approval will be secured from Supreme Council of
Environment as per norms in practice
c. Hose leak will be controlled while doing de watering
d. Periodically the Sedimentation Tank will be cleaned to avoid sludge accumulation at
tank
e. The following safety precautions will be exercised;
• Ensure that all workers related to this work shall have attended Safety Induction
and shall be provided with proper PPE.
• Implement "Permit to Work" system. No work shall proceed unless inspected by
WBJV Safety Officer.
• Conduct Daily Tool Box Meeting for mutual understanding of workers and record
attendance of attendees.
• Safety warning tapes and warning sign shall be provided as a barrier of
equipment's entry.

8.0 ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT

• It shall be ensured that all equipment deployed at site will not pollute the environment
beyond the standard specified and all works shall be undertaken in accordance with the
approved Construction Environment Management Plan(CEMP}
