SYMPHONIC BAND PERFORMANCE QUIZ – TRI 2 2018-19 

 
 

BEFORE MAKING YOUR RECORDING… 

  
1. Practice the measures assigned until mastery is achieved. 
2. Using your ipad, practice recording on the GarageBand app. All recordings should be performed on 
GarageBand. Check the sound recording level to make sure your tone isn’t distorting (recording too loud) or 
barely audible. 
3. A metronome (already embedded in the GarageBand app) must be used throughout the assignment. Check to 
make sure your metronome is turned ON so it can be heard with your recording 
  
MAKING THE RECORDING… 
  
1. At the beginning of each track, verbally state your name, part (Example: 2​nd​ clarinet or 3​rd​ trombone), and the 
measures you are performing in the track. 
2. Set the metronome at the indicated tempo (it must be audible on the recording). 
3. Play the measures indicated consecutively without stops. If you have a several measures of rests (more than two 
measures), it is OK to pause briefly and continue without counting out the full amount of rests. 
4. Once you have the recorded track you would like to submit, name the track with composer and measure 
numbers. (Example: Mozart m. 12-18). 
 
UPLOADING THE RECORDING… 
  
1. Before uploading, name the track with composer and measure numbers. 
2. From GarageBand, exit the project by tapping “My Songs”. Next, select your project by long tapping the song 
and hitting the share button. In the next menu, hit share the files to Schoology. 
3. Because you are submitting more than one file, choose “Add to My Resources” save each file to your home 
folder. Once you have uploaded all files to Schoology, find the assignment in your course materials, go to the 
submissions tab, click the “+” in the upper right-hand corner and select all the files at once. 
  
COMPLETE THE SELF-EVALUATION… 
  
1. Complete a self-evaluation of the tracks you are submitting by completing the “Self-Evaluation Rubric” found in 
Schoology. 
2. Make sure you listen to your tracks BEFORE completing the evaluation. 
3. In each concept, if your self-score was not perfect, please explain the reason and include the specific measure 
numbers of your errors. 
  
COMPLETION… 
  
The assignment should be completed and submitted by midnight on Tuesday, March. 5​th​. Points will be deducted for late 
assignments. No assignments will be accepted after Friday, March 8​th​. ​ASSIGNMENT IS WORTH 10% OF TRIMESTER 
GRADE AND WILL BE YOUR FINAL.
