OVERVIEW
SOTJA is originated from an ancient sundanese word meaning ‘eyes’.
Lead by Ibrahim Amir Hasan an Interior Architect who has 10 years experience,
focusing on Hospitality Interior - Architectural design.
Sotja’s design approach are focusing on research on property / business competitors,
project’s owners, operator’s briefs and objectives.
Established by the project briefs, the design concept developments are carefully crafted
to create a distinctive value on the final product. To fulfil the brands standards and expectations.
SERVICES
SCHEMATIC DESIGN PHASE
Based on all the information that was gathered on the Programming Phase,
We will commence design process which will include a schematic / basic space planning diagram and 3D illustrations.
DESIGN DEVELOPMENT PHASE

Based on the approved Schematic Design phase,
the phase will continue the design which will involve other consultants (Civil Engineers, MEP, etc)
to achieve all the required technical specifications for the Project.
This will include construction drawings for Project Bidding and Project Implementation.
CONSTRUCTION DRAWINGS
AND DOCUMENTATIONS PHASE
Based from the technical specifications input from all parties and Consultants.
We will start documenting all the necessary construction drawings
for Project Bidding and Project construction / manufacture and implementation.
DESIGN SUPERVISION PHASE

Based on the commencement of Project Construction,
We will coordinate with selected contractors and subcontractors
The process will include Contractors / Sub Contractor’s Shop Drawings review,
Project and/or Workshop supervision along with a comprehensive Project Report.

OBJECTIVE:
Situated on Seminyak street, the challenge was to utilize the space to accommodate product
displays and managerial activities.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
In terms of product selections,. The form of the layout treats the central area as circulation which is surrounded by product displays.
This accommodate the users to appreciate all the collections.
Each display stall uses white washed teakwood, and incorporate balinese elements, as decorations.

The design challenge was to redefine space planning on the architectural and Interior design for hotel refurbishment.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
based on the existing condition, the design approach was redefined the site plan and room planning and redesign the material selections on roof, floor and ceiling, into
a luxurious hotel with colonial touch.

OBJECTIVE:
Redesign and decorate a room with tight budget.displays and managerial activities.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
The design of the room is divided into 3 zones; The Living Room, Bedroom area and Ensuite
The material selections on built in furniture uses calciboard with hollow aluminum structure to form the wardrobe,
shelves and writing desk as a solution to the tight budget.
To soften the room, the bed headboard was repainted by special Balinese gold paint which is commonly used for making Balinese offering bowls. Then it was coated to
retain durability.design and decorate a room with tight budget.displays and managerial activities.

OBJECTIVE:
By an observation on the hospitality business, the common business configuration mindset always focused on Hotels, villas, or resorts.
Hostel, is a new business concept in Bali. The intention is to touch youth travelers market in Bali.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
The role in this project is quite different. Creativity and business sense are challenged, to define the
concept and composing a business plan by design approach. In this project, as a solution to minimize
the investment and getting maximum margins, The Bedbunkers hostel is built on an abandoned shop building.
Established on a 450 m2 building. The challenge is to determine space ratio by design and divided it into four critical functions.
Which are Reception, Dormitory, Public Ensuite and Common Area.
Raw bricks, concrete, and vinyl flooring are combined with 33 metal bed units and built in locker on each bed.
Material considerations are based on the effort for economized renovations.

OBJECTIVE:
The challenge was to renovate a phinisi boat to a luxury yacht.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
On the boat exterior, exposed wood with blue color are selected, to create an elegant look and represent the brand.
To honor the local value, wooden floor, oxidized brass lamp, teak furniture and treated rattan with earthy tones,
are selected to reflect the traditional value and create soothed ambience.

OBJECTIVE:
The challenge was to design a residential building situated on a sloping land which sits on rock.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
The space layout zoning is adopted from The Balinese architecture concept. That has separated buildings on each function.
The pond acts as the main feature and welcoming element. The living room and dining area are positioned overlooking the pool.
The bedroom area was determined by the land contour. In terms of avoiding the excavation process.
The architectural design approach is to create a monumental architecture by using reused clay tiles and Javanese roof shape combined with clean sleek shaped window.

OBJECTIVE:
The challenge was to design residential cluster on a sloping land.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
Canggu, is one of Bali’s prime locations. Offers stunning rice fields view. Responding the land shape and orientation,
the architectural approach is to accommodate nature as the main value.
The architectural design concept itself is a contemporary monumental shape among the nature.
To honor the local spirit, inspired from traditional bamboo woven shape are placed as the architectural feature.
On the main entrance, guests are welcomed by a reflecting pond and swimming pool. Pivot doors are used to define the lounge area.
Cement floors, wooden floor, a floating sofa, simple shaped furnitures are arranged to enhance the nature as the main focus.

OBJECTIVE:
The task in this project was to design 4 units of 1 bedroom bungalows with a common area.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
Situated in Bocas del Toro, which has indigenous culture and Spanish architecture. The architecture and
interior concept of this project is to incorporate modern tropical design with the local contents.
The concept was implemented by adopting Spanish roof tiles, and molas (indigenous crafts) patterns. The pattern itself
has a geometrical shape that is usually used on perforated walls and bed headboards.
Handmade cement and terracotta tiles are installed as floor materials. The following materials are
selected as an efficiency consideration during constructions.

OBJECTIVE:
The task in this project was to design a private villa that has a contemporary vernacular theme.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
The architecture was inspired from Tongkonan ( a traditional torajan house ) . From the architectural circular layout,
space design was arranged and adapted to fit the owner request.
From design forms and material concept itself, are considered using natural materials such as wood and natural stones, yet still has form follow functions philosophy. Let-

OBJECTIVE:
Situated in Champlung Tanduk street and surrounded by shops and nightlife arenas. The task was to design a 3 star hotel
with 56 units, sits on 1000 m2 land.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
Since the space are limited, the design challenge was to design a compact room that can accommodate the guest needs.
By incorporating Balinese elements and modern forms.
The materials selection itself uses low cost, sustainable materials, yet still can be developed to form aesthetic value.
On the reception and breakfast area .The decorated ceiling is using moulded gypsum and balinese special gold paint.
It uses to reflect the lights and as a unique featured ceilings.
At the rooftop bar, used beer Bintang bottles are installed as a wall feature. And also has a function as the general lighting.

OBJECTIVE:
The design challenge was to create an integrated 5 stars resort development by incorporating Sailendra dynasty as the theme concept.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
Sailendra, was one of influential dynasty in Indonesia that emerged on 8th century.
The Sailendras were believed as the builders of Buddhist monuments, such as the Borobudur.
Based from Buddhist movement history in Bali. Sri Kesari Warmadewa was said to be a Buddhist king of the Sailendra Dynasty,
leading a military expedition, to establishing a Mahayana Buddhist government
in Bali. In 914, he left a record of his endeavour in the Belanjong pillar in Sanur in Bali. According to this inscription Warmadewa dynasty
was probably the branch of Sailendras that rule Bali.
Mandala, are the spiritual symbol of Buddhism and Hinduism. This has basic symmetrical forms, reflected on the basic layout concept
to decorative elements. Modern design shapes also incorporated
on architectural and interior design. Sought an inspiration from the temples, materials such natural stones, terracotta, open pore wood,
bronze and concrete are used to create the atmospheres.

inspired by indonesian archipelago, the concept is defined as uniqueness value, which can be implemented as complimentary decorations on branch and each unit
identity.
Dark open pore wood are used as the furniture’s main materials, combine with exposed concrete, finest terrazzo finishing from Carlo Pessina was carefully arranged in this
property design.

OBJECTIVE:
The challenging design project was to refurbish and creating an iconic design as selling point.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
Hu’u Bar and Restaurant is one of the famous Bars in Bali situated among the most celebrated venues in Jalan Petitenget in Seminyak. The venue is part of the Hu’u Brand
that also features a restaurant and luxury accommodation facilities. This Bar is first opened on 2001 and has since enjoyed success with crowds of partygoers and dinners
from around the world.
Hu’u bar previous architecture, originally has a strong tropical style. The venue covers an extensive 4,300sqm and was conceived as a multi-concept International leisure
spot.
Zoning concept of critical building function was adopting from an “old house on the hill”. Implemented by dividing the space into 4 critical area. Main room, which is the
bar and dance floor. Dining room, the restaurant, patio as outdoor lounging, and garden area.
Inspired from modern design. Forms and furnitures are arranged by simplifying the traditional chinese peranakan design with colonial touch. As a contemporary design
concept.
With white as color dominant on exterior walls, the peranakan pastel color palette was carefuly applied on clay roof tiles. Married with charcoal grey on the interior and
adding Burgundy and gold as complimentary. The building is washed with RGB changing color running light to attract potential customer.
During the design construction phase, project management strategy is essential. the renovation.
Since the restaurant / bar need to be running during the renovation. Regarding the plan, renovation phase has divided into 2 phase.
The 1st phase is renovating the architecture, with a consideration, architecture / building facade has the biggest design impact.
The 2nd phase, was planned on ID works and FF+E.

DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:

The Penthouse itself, was influenced by the music culture. By placing David Bowie’s lyrics on the wall. And placing hexagonal gold ceiling as design feature.

Located in Sanur, Samasta hotel as a boutique hotel has few key design element.
This project is trying to combine Industrial, Victorian, and tropical / vernacular style to create a design uniqueness.
Raw concrete, Light grain wood and white duco, was selected to balance the simplicity between traditional forms and adding bright pastel color as a fresh touch on
decorations.

OBJECTIVE:
The challenge was to design a bar and lounge in very limited space.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
Located in Petitenget, Seminyak, The bar is surrounded among shops, beach clubs and other nightlife offers.
As a small bar, the design key element comes with open pore wood finishes, combined with polished concrete floor, duco furnitures, rustic painted wall. And redesigned
Javanese pendant lamp to soften the “warehouse look“. .
Inspired from Bar habits. Suspended frames on the ceiling, and murals was to symbolized “the stories” which people share to each other while enjoying their drinks.

OBJECTIVE:
The challenging design project was to design a boutique Villas.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
Located in Canggu, as a Honeymooners Villas, Kardia’s main layout configuration has an intimate exposure to offer.
By placing an outdoor shower which can be seen from the bedroom, and a sunken private dining by the pool to embrace the ultimate luxury.
Kardia’s design approach is formed by it simplicity selected tropical architecture materials, such as open pore wood, textured wall paint,
and cement tiles flooring.

OBJECTIVE:
The challenging design project was to create an iconic / signature design as the attraction.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
Design concept itself, was to design an architectural skin as the iconic element to draw the potential visitor.
Inspired from the brand Logo, the facade design is adopting the crown shape, and triangle to represent the diamond shape.
The interior itself, was formed by using simple shapes with rough terazzo flooring, reclaimed wood panels as the rustic element to create the design texture.
Hanging lamps, diamond shape texture ceiling, leather sofa was carefully selected to sooth the interior ambience

OBJECTIVE:
The challenging design project was to refurbish the existing restaurant.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
The essential design approach was to re create the area zoning for practicality considerations of each area functions.
Which the buffet area is mainly use for hotel guests breakfast activity and the other areas can be utilized as an all day dining facility.
Bar counter was relocated into terrace area, to redefine the lounge resto ambience as the walk in guest attractions.
Inspired from the hotel name, the design concept was trying to be the story teller an ancient story about Adam and Eve, which implemented on the greenery and Mural
illustrations, combined with polished concrete floor, and light color tones.

OBJECTIVE:
The design challenge was to develop architecture and interior design, which has tropical luxury yet cost effective.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
In terms of cost, Space planning and the design approach itself was to defining facility as effective as possible. Such as shared lounge area
and swimming pool. To add more luxury value, a fire element was added by the pool as barbeque pit and adding more soothed ambience.
Located in North of Bali, This project approach was to design bungalows compund by adapting the land contour, and combining the modern clean and sleek design forms
with the tropical elements. This compound has 1 shared livng room, 1 master bungalow, and 4 typical bungalow, surrounded by beautiful landscape.

The design challenge was to create an integrated 5 stars resort development which located in remoted island.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
Inspired from the island life, “Bare Foot Luxury” was implemented by the materials selections, such as open pore wood, rattan,
bamboo and local stones.
From the traditional Javanese architecture named “Gladak house“, A contemporary colonial elements are reflected by the white walls, wood profiles, and furnishing de-
tails and blue colors pillows as the ocean element.

OBJECTIVE:
The design challenge was to design limited space and budget bar.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
Inspired from the tropical landscape, the bar design was defined by using natural stone, with ferns growing from the stone.
Reclaimed wood was used as the bar top, and furnitures, combined with vintage bulb lamps to sooth the design.

By using treaditional design elements, yet combined with simple forms. The design approach, mostly using traditional materials. Such as marble floor, coconut wood on

Located in the heart of Lombok, among other famous resorts in senggigi coast line, Each unit of 3 bedroom villa type, is sit on 500sqm land.
the architectural and interior design, was inspired from Sumbawa royal’s house ( bale datu means house of the royals).
That adds on the contemporary roof style, open pore wood, local stones, and wicker elements which formed with modern shapes.

OBJECTIVE:
The design challenge was to define Interior design for 2 type of unit villas, which located in remoted island.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
The design approach in this project, was to design more loose funitures to make the sourcing method easier. The building materials it self will be using dry wall as the most
efficient construction method for the island, according to rarotonga’s resources limitations.
Natural teak wood with open pore finish, is mainly used for the furnitures along with rattan and other natural materials. Which combine which chinese vase lighting to el-
evate the room ambiance.

The design challenge was to re-define Interior design an old prominent club.
DESIGN HIGHLIGHTS:
Located in the heart of Legian, on the early 2000’s. The project site know as Mbargo Super Club.
Inspired from a “rebirth” tagline concept. A triangle form was develop as the facade and internal sound proofing pattern.
Polished concrete floor, dark and rustic steel building structure, was combined with indoor landscaping also planted to soften the club ambiance.
