“Harmonizing and Enhancing Research Outputs toward Excellent Schools”


Rationale
Pursuant to DepEd Order No. 43, s. 2015 (Revised Guidelines for
the Basic Education Research Fund) and DepEd Order No. 39, s.
2016 (Adoption of the Basic Education Research Agenda which
aim to promote culture of research geared towards improving
access to education, quality of education and governance, SDO
Bataan has intensified its efforts in promoting the culture of
research in the school. Hence, teachers, school heads, supervisors
and non-teaching staff in are encouraged to conduct research.

Rationale
Last school year, DepEd Bataan has received around four hundred
research proposals which were outputs from the Division
Writeshop on the Preparation of Research Proposals held last July-
August 2017. However, the overwhelming turnout of the
proposals has also posed a problem to the Schools Division
Research Committee (SDRC) and Secretariat because of the time
required to read each one of them to ensure conformity to the
standards set by DepEd.

Rationale

Thus, the need to capacitate and strengthen the research


committees in the school and district level is deemed necessary to
meet this problem. If the researches have already been properly
screened in the school and district level, evaluation and approval
in the division level will be faster and easier.

Objectives

 Enhance the competence of the SDRC and District


Research Committee in evaluating research proposals;
 Update the committees with the changes in the SDO
Bataan Research Calendar and other concerns; and
 Craft District Research Plan based on ISO Work Instruction

1. As Research Leader, the committee shall:
a. provide guidance in the development, review,
evaluation of District Research Plan and other
research related activities ( capacity-building
workshops, research colloquium/ forum, etc.)
b. resolve emerging issues in the management and
conduct of research

2. As Assessor and Evaluator, the committee shall:
a. review and evaluate research proposals from schools
within the district
b. ensure that proponents comply with the
recommendations of the research committee
c. endorse research proposals and recommend for the
approval of the Schools Division Research Committee
(SDRC)

3. As Liaison Officer, the committee shall:
a. provide feedback to the SDRC on the approved, on
going and completed research
b. forge partnerships with academic and research
institutions on education research initiatives, projects,
trainings and other research-related activities.

4. As Fiscal Manager, the committee shall:
a. ensure that cost estimates fall under the existing
accounting and auditing rules and regulations
b. prepare budget proposal and training design of
research related activities

The District Research Committee headed by the PSDS shall


designate members who will act as the District Research
Secretariat

1. As Process Administrator, the secretariat shall:
a. organize, coordinate and document meetings of the
committee

conduct of research

The School Research Committee headed by the School


Principal shall designate members who will act as the School
Research Secretariat. However, for small schools, the
Research Coordinator may also perform the functions of the
Secretariat
