The registration time* for SWC 2019 will be during the months of April and until May 24th of 2019, where the team
leader of every registered group will have to fill in the following steps:

1. The team leader of a group or the person in charge to register the team will be able to find a registration link in a
post of the official LINE account of SWC, he/she will have to follow the steps indicated in the video-guide. If the
team leader needs personal assistance, he/she may contact one of the volunteers of the event for further
assistance.

2. Afterwards, the team leader will select the version in which he/she is registering the team. Remember that we
have two versions in this competition: The Spanish version (SWC 2019 – SPANISH VERSION) or the English version
(SWC 2019 – ENGLISH VERSION).

3. The volunteer will share with the participant the following data to keep the information in hand for future purposes:

a. Official LINE account of SWC: Which you and your participants will have to add and follow in order to obtain
any kind of information during the competition, which is posted through streaming messages or notes.
b. The updated Participants Guide of SWC 2019: This is the main guide of the competition and it is addressed to
all the participants of this season. You‟ll be able to find the complete information about the
Organizers/Volunteers, Evaluation Criteria, Judge‟s Team, Special Judge‟s Team and Prizes.

6
© 2019, Smule World Championship – Latin Voices Smule Main Contest
c. Website of SWC: The member of the staff will also provide the URL of the website for the competition “Smule
World Championship”. In this site, you‟ll be able to see the same results of the current season and all the
history of the championship since 2016.
d. Registration link of your team: The member of the staff will provide an important „Link‟, this will be a final form
where you‟ll have to put the data of your participants and substitutes (in case your team requires them).
As a reminder, the team must present 10 main participants (residents and one for each music category) in
order to make your registration valid. It‟s important to note that the registration of substitutes is optional,
which means that it is not mandatory but you may register one “Sub” per category; means that you can
register a maximum of 10 subs. It‟s also important to note that the participant/substitute you‟re registering
must NOT be registered in a different team. Otherwise, the participant with double register will have to
make a decision and solve the issue prior the start of the competition.
IF there‟s a case where one participant represents 2 or more teams, the songs of that same participant will
not be taken in count for the evaluations until a decision is made from the participant. The other team losing
its team will be able to use a registered sub of this or any other category.
In case the second team has not a registered sub, there will be 2 days provided to find a sub not already
registered in any other group for SWC 2019 in order to replace the previous one during the whole
competition.
You may register 1 or 2 teams, as longs as there are still available spaces after the registration deadline. In
this case, every team will be registered in separated forms.

4. Once all the previous steps are correctly done, and if the team has had the assistance of a volunteer, you will
have to contact the same member of the staff to indicate that you have finished the steps and filled the
registration form for the team(s). The volunteer will verify if the register has been submitted successfully and your
register will be complete!

*Los participantes tienen los dos primeros días de la semana (Lunes y Martes) para preguntar a los jueces sobre dudas de la
canción a interpretar.

 PERFORMANCES: The participant must sing a different song every week and must also represent the category
he/she was assigned to participate. Repeating songs from previous weeks is not allowed, if there‟s a case where
the participant repeats song, this will be disqualified from that week. However, if the group qualifies to the next
stage “PLAYOFF”, the participant may start from 0, using songs performed in the previous weeks (from group
stage) or new ones, but they must be performed during the current week of the competition.

IMPORTANT: The music categories (except the categories “Music video” and “Imitation”) may present their
performances in AUDIO or VIDEO mode. The only categories that must present their performances in VIDEO mode
are “Music Video” and “Imitation”.

INQUIRY FORM: (NEW): If the participant has questions or doubts about the songs they‟d like to perform for the next

Questions for the Inquiry form:

 NAME OF THE PARTICIPANT REPRESENTING THE CATEGORY

 NAME OF THE TEAM OF THE PARTICIPANT
 MUSIC CATEGORY FOR THE CONSULT
 SONG YOU WISH TO CONSULT (MANDATORY)
 ADDITIONAL QUESTION OR DETAILS OF THE CONSULT OR MAILBOX FOR COMPLAINTS OR SUGGESTIONS

 LANGUAGE OF THE PERFORMANCE: The songs may be performed in Spanish and English. (The category of
“Imitation” is allowed to use any language). Mixing languages is allowed in all categories, including MASH UP and
GROUP SONG.

 REGISTRATION OF PARTICIPANTS: All the participants must be registered. There must be at least 1 participant with a
VIP account in Smule. If there’s a participant singing in any category (single or group) but not registered in the
team, the performance will be invalid automatically and it will get a score of 0. Only for the category of “Group
song”, the songs may be opened by the official account of the group/team on Smule if needed, but it‟s
preferable to open the song for this category by the registered main singer of the category. For the rest of the
genres, if the participant does not have a VIP account on Smule, any other participant of the same team may
open the song.

 NO SWITCHING OF MUSIC CATEGORIES: The main singers CANNOT alternate music categories, every main singer
will be assigned to only one category from the beginning of the competition to the end.

23
© 2019, Smule World Championship – Latin Voices Smule Main Contest
 SUBSTITUTES: At the beginning we indicated that every team may register a maximum of 10 substitutes, one per
category, it may be 1-10, depending of the compliance of the team when registering. This means that one team
may register substitutes for just some of the categories and no substitutes for other categories. They are not
mandatory. The MAIN SINGERS of the team not available to participate during the week, may be replaced (no
penalty) by the Substitute of that category (SUB 1) just in case that the team registered this substitute prior the start
of the competition. In case that the Substitute of the Category (Sub 1) cannot replace the main singer, the team
has two options:

a) A different substitute registered for another category of the team may replace exclusively during that week,
in order to save the category, and this substitute will become a Substitute 2 (Sub 2). But it will have a penalty
of the 20% off the score as consequence.

b) Not assign any other substitute and lose the score for that week only. However, the team won‟t be DQ.

24
© 2019, Smule World Championship – Latin Voices Smule Main Contest
MAIN SINGERS: These are the main singers of the team. They must be 10, one per category and these are mandatory. A
team cannot miss 1 or more participants as main singers, the team must be complete minimum with the 10 main singers
in order to register in this competition.

SUBSTITUTES PER CATEGORY or (SUB 1): These are the assigned substitutes to replace only one category. They cannot
replace two or more categories. The register of a substitute is not mandatory. The team may have 10 registered
substitutes (SUB 1) max, 1 per category, but you may register less than 10 or even none. A SUB 1 may not replace 2 or
more main members either during the current week. If the Staff of the competition finds out that the substitute is
replacing his/her main singer plus some other(s) main singers during the current week, the song in consideration will be
the one the substitute is registered to replace and the other song(s) will be disqualified.

SUBSTITUTE 2 (From SUB 1 to SUB 2): A Substitute from a Category (SUB 1) turns into a SUB 2 when he/she is replacing a
main singer from another category, because the SUB1 of that category is unable to replace his/her main singer. But this
will take place only IF THE MAIN SINGER OF HIS/HER OWN CATEGORY IS ABLE TO SING DURING THE CURRENT WEEK,
OTHERWISE HE/SHE WON’T BE ABLE TO ACT AS SUB 2 AND WILL HAVE TO REPLACE THE CATEGORY HE/SHE WAS REGISTERED.

E.g.: “Week 2: The main singer of the category ROCK has a registered substitute, the main singer of POP is not available
to participate during this week, but the category does not have a registered substitute. To fix this issue with just a penalty
instead of losing the whole score, the team may use the substitute of the ROCK category to participate in the POP
category, as long as the main singer of ROCK category is available to participate this same week.”

Conclusion: In case that the team uses a SUB 1 or SUB 2, that participant must sing only one category per week.

Extra substitute: The extra substitute will be assigned only to the team leader of the team (in case there are two members
of the team inside the team leader‟s room) and he/she must be registered in the team. This substitute has the function of
replacing any category different than its own (SUB 2 type) and with no penalty but according to the following
conditions:

25
© 2019, Smule World Championship – Latin Voices Smule Main Contest
 The extra substitute may be used only once per week. It‟s not allowed to use this sub twice or more. In case the
Extra Substitute has been assigned to two or more performances during the week, the valid performance will be
the one without a registered substitute, in case there are two or more performances with non registered substitute,
the valid performance will be just one, the rest will be invalid. Also, if the extra substitute is used twice or more in
categories where there‟s a registered substitute of the category, then the song will be invalid.
 The extra substitute is assigned to the category that doesn’t have a registered substitute (SUB 1)

There will be a penalty of the 20% off the score of the performance if this uses the extra substitute in a wrong way, as it‟s
explained in the following examples:

 20% OFF THE SCORE: If the extra sub is used when there‟s a registered substitute for that category. If it‟s used twice
or more, the performance will be invalid as it was mentioned before.

 HASHTAGS: The hashtags mentioned in the TEAM LEADER‟S ROOM are mandatory and they
must be respected and added to all the performances. We recommend to double check
the performance before the deadline to verify that the HASTHAG is placed CORRECTLY
and the song must be PUBLIC to help the judges to have an easy and practical access to
all the performances. These Hashtags are only for control purposes and as a signature of
the participants and their teams, as they are important for the admin team. You may
create a custom hashtag for the team.

Please take note that the official hashtags ARE NOT CONSIDERED AS THE OFFICIAL SONGS
DELIVERY. All performances must be submitted using the “Typeform” form, which will be
explained in the next page of the participants guide.

 DATES TO DELIVER AND REGISTRATION OF THE PERFORMANCES: The final version of the performances must be
delivered through a form (Typeform) with deadline until Friday at 11:59 P.M. (GMT-05/LIMA TIME) every singing

The songs delivered out of the delivery time and before the singing week starts won’t be valid. During the first week
of competition, the songs performed before the official opening time won‟t be valid. Record performances out of
the indicated rank of time is not allowed in this competition because it gives an advantage to the participant
towards its rivals, and it‟s considered as “cheating” according to the regulation of SWC 2019. Therefore, the song
will lead to DQ in the current week but neither the participant nor the team will be expelled from the contest. (If
this happened during the Global Final, the group song would be DQ)

IMPORTANT: During the “GROUPS STAGE” each participant must perform a different song. They should not repeat
twice or more occasions the same song per week.

BADGES OF THE COMPETITON

El Staff of SWC 2019 has decided that the „badges‟ ARE NOT MANDATORY. Since our first edition during 2016, the
use of the badges of SWC has always been optional. However, if a team would like to design their own badges for
the members of their teams, the use of these badges will be allowed. Therefore, we will provide the official logo of
the competition for the teams to use it as their creativity indicates to design the custom badges for their
group/teams. The admin team of the season SWC 2019 will not deduct points for the no use for either LINE or Smule
accounts. We understand that this competition 2 months long, and so it would be an imposition for the
participants to force them to use them along the competition time. This is an idea that we don‟t share and
absolutely reject.
The contest “SWC BADGES CONTEST 2019” is optional and it won‟t affect the results of the performances.

COVER-ARTS

Unlike the use of the badges, the cover-arts for all the performances ARE MANDATOYR in this competition and the
no use will cause a penalty. This eases the hard duty of the organizers to help them to identify easily and quickly
whether they‟re performances of the participants and evaluate them. The data that these cover-arts must show
are the following:

 Genre or Category (Mandatory)

 Name of the song (Mandatory)

41
© 2019, Smule World Championship – Latin Voices Smule Main Contest
 Name of the participant (Mandatory)
 SWC official Logo (Mandatory)
 Logo of the group/team (Mandatory)
 Stage: “Groups stage”/”8th final”, etc. (Mandatory)
 Picture of the participant (Optional)
 Smule ID of the participant (Optional)

The no use of the cover-art will deduct 2 points as penalty for the performance of the current week.
EXAMPLES OF COVER-ARTS

The templates of the cover-arts for each version will be available in the “Team leader‟s room” on LINE.

EXPULSION OF THE PARTICIPANT

“Although there are events of Smule where you may get kicked out of the competition because of simple actions which
are not related to your performance…
In Smule World Championship we do not have additional rules for chat rooms to make the rest of the participants
uncomfortable with, we only have one single general rule ever since our season at 2016, which involves the participants,
team leaders, judges and volunteer team.
And this only rule is: RESPECTING OTHERS

The participants or any person involved will be expelled from the competition if there are acts
of provocation such as disrespectful words or “Bullying” towards other people involved in this
competition, and these acts/words must be INSIDE the official team leader‟s chat room,
judge‟s chat room or the volunteer team chat room, or if there are attempts to affect the
competition for no apparent reason or with topics unrelated to SWC.

Let‟s make of this event a healthy and fun environment among teammates and friends. Let‟s
avoid an uncomfortable environment and respect each other.

Let‟s prove we can solve the problems as grownups and lead with the example for our own
children.”
