Trainee’s Policy

1. Objectives

The objectives of this policy are to:

 Have a reservoir of young talent who would take up higher responsibilities in the
future.
 Integrate conceptual understanding gained through academic curriculum into
practical application.
 Have professionally qualified manpower, multi-skilled persons who could be
utilised for various functions.

2. Policy

Recruitment

 Process for recruiting Trainees in various disciplines shall be undertaken once in a


year through Campus Recruitment. The number of Trainees required to be taken,
shall be decided during the annual budgeting exercise/ business expansion plans.
Trainees shall preferably be recruited from reputed colleges/ management
institutes in the region.
 Management Graduation shall be the pre-requisite for Trainees in Commercial
function.

Disciplines

2.1. The trainees shall be recruited under the following training schemes: -

2.1.1. Graduate / Diploma Engineer Trainees:


 Mechanical Engineers
 Electrical Engineers
 Instrumentation & Control Engineers
 Production Engineers
2.1.2. Management Trainees
 HR
 Sales & Marketing
 Materials/ Logistics etc.
2.1.3. CA, CS and ICWA Trainees
2.1.4. Law Graduate Trainees

Duration

The duration of training period shall be of one year.


Structure of the Training Scheme

2.2. The duration of training period shall be of one year and during the training
period, the trainee will be on probation.

2.3. The performance of the trainee will be reviewed regularly as per laid down
schedule enclosed as Annexure-I.

Compensation

2.4. The compensation structure and placement on completion shall be governed by


the respective training schemes.
2.5. The compensation package shall be reviewed for all the training schemes atleast
once in two years on the basis of benchmarking with same/ similar organisations.

Training Modules

 The training modules for all categories of trainees shall be a fine blend of
academic based training and On-The-Job training.

 All training modules shall lay a specific emphasis on orientation towards IT


application by the trainee in various functions.

 The training module for all trainees shall consist of the following broad areas:

 Orientation / Induction - One Week


 Cross-functional training - Ten Weeks
 Specialty training in related function - Ten Weeks
 On-the-job-training - Twenty Eight Weeks
 IT Training - One Week
 Exposure to training programmes/seminars
 Exposure to ISO/ TS Concepts - Two Weeks
 Visit to other units

On completion of training, the trainee shall be assigned to a specific function for a


minimum period of two years. The trainees will be given exposure in the
following broad areas for the duration shown against each of them:

Review Mechanism

 Tutor
Every trainee shall be assigned a tutor for entire training period. The tutor shall have
a structured review of the performance of the trainee atleast once in a quarter to
enlighten the trainee with respect to the strengths and areas of improvement of the
trainee.
 Supervisor
During the training period every trainee shall be assigned to a supervisor who shall be
responsible for the day-to-day functioning/conduct of the trainee. He/she shall act as
an immediate guide to the trainee in respect of any problems or difficulties being
encountered during the training process. The supervisor will change with the change
in placement of the trainee.

 Daily Diary
Every trainee shall be required to maintain a daily diary in which he/she shall record
the details of the work done on daily basis, observations, suggestions as also the
books, journals and articles studied during the day.

The diary shall be put up to the Tutor, Supervisor and HRD Department at regular
intervals as specified in the review schedule.

 Assigning of project
During the course of on-the-job training, the trainee shall be assigned various short-
term project assignments related to the working problems. However, every trainee
shall be required to undertake atleast two projects during the training period. The
trainee shall be required to make a presentation of the same to the senior management
team.

 Evaluation
The successful completion of the training shall be on the basis of the formal
evaluation of the trainee done in respect of the periodic reports, project report, project
presentation and the overall conduct of the trainee.

 Placement
On successful completion of the training period, the trainee shall be formally assigned
to a function for a minimum period of two years.

 General
 The feedback/review proformas are as given under:-

o Feedback proforma for monthly report enclosed as Annexure-II.


o Appraisal form for review of trainees enclosed as Annexure-III.
o Presentation Evaluation Proforma enclosed as Annexure-IV.
