ORAL COMMUNICATION TEACHING GUIDE

LESSON OUTLINE: At the end of the lesson, the student will be able to:
1. explain the nature and process of communication
2. apply strategies in overcoming communication breakdown
3. develop appreciation for different cultural perspectives

Introduction The students will play a game called “Pass the Message” that will manifest the importance of effective communication and for
the appreciation of cultural perspectives.
Motivation The students will have peer assessment in connection to the activity.
Instruction/Delivery The students will watch a short clip that shows communication breakdown between two different nationalities/race. Then the
teacher will further explain the reason why effective communication is necessary in order to build and maintain harmonious
relationship.
Practice The students will be divided to different groups and they need to pick a strip of paper containing different scenarios that show
opportunities for effective communication in different contexts.
Enrichment The students will watch another video clip and they will identify the effective communication practices shown in the clip.
