Instructional Software
To introduce this topic, the teacher will show a video through BrainPOP Jr. on the effect of forces. The
teacher will tell them to find one thing they find interesting or something they didn’t know. After the video,
the students will then be asked to go around the classroom and tell the teacher the one thing they found
interesting. The teacher will make a list on the board in front of the classroom.
Once the students have finished, the teacher will play the video one more time and the students will be
asked to discuss in small groups to come up with one fact they would like to share with the class. The teacher
will have the small groups leader share out one fact. The teacher will add this to the board. The lesson will
end by assigning a fact to each small group, where they will be asked to work together to make a video or
podcast on that fact and show how it is true. Student learning will be assessed through discussions of material
and their shared product. The teacher will provide feedback through discussion.

Reflective Practice:
For extending the lesson to a higher LOTi level, the students will demonstrate how pushing and pulling on
an object affect its motion, as the standard S2P2 A states. The students will go on a scavenger hunt in the
classroom to find items they can push and/or pull. Once they have all found at least three items, they will
have a choice (powerpoint, audio, video, poster) on how they want to share what they found to their
classmates and describe how pushing or pulling that item affects its motion. Then they will share their
product on the classroom blog.
