AE314: Theory of Elasticity

Instructor : Praveen Krishna (praveenkrishna@iist.ac.in) Slot : A

TA : Prabith K (prabhithprabha@gmail.com) Credit : 3

Course Objectives
• To introduce the basic concepts required to analyze an aircraft/space craft structure
(or any other structure).

• Review of the one-dimensional structural idealizations as beams, columns, rods as

they appeared in strength of materials/mechanics of materials.

• Revisit of the same from a more general elasticity approach, leading to assess the error
introduced/range of applicability of these idealizations.
