PROGRESS NOTES 02/07/12: I had an opportunity to speak with Ms. Toni Dahl, the Special education teacher for Gino Rucki, at the Faspyh Elementary School. oO ) I had previously contacted the maternal aunt, who temporary custodial and authorization rights for the childre: her care, that includes Gino. i wanted some more specific information regarding Gino’s learning and/or developmental disability to better understand how he participates in a neutral environment at school and how that might translate into my working with him within the children’s therapy format. Ms. Dahl reports that he does have a learning disability and receives supportive services in all school areas. These include speech and language services. She reports that he seems to have fairly full comprehension. He is viewed as a “nice kid.” He enjoys one or two friends in the classroom. Although he has conversations with others, at other times, other students seem to find him hard to understand. I questioned whether the school had considered an Autistic Spectrum Disorder or Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) symptoms. She reports that they have not considered autistic issues. He does require some directions repeated to him and, at times, will avoid wanting to read and write. Basically, his current educational accommodations are primary mainstream placement being ‘pulled out’ for special services. There have been no other special accommodations for him. She noted that last year was very difficult for him to hold things together. She states that this year things have been much better. She reports him to be active in track, though he missed the soccer sign-up. She views him as a student who wants to please and wants approval. He loves adult attention. She views has showing some social deficits. I thanked her for her conversation and terminated the call. Approximately one-half hour later, Ms. Dahl contacted me stating that she had an opportunity to speak with Gino’s teacher, directly. His teacher reported that children basically “tolerate” him given his disabilities, his verbal comprehey Sn} and his social awkwardness. O Again, I thanked her for her input. © [1 Assessmer CASE Ke TYPE wv PROGRESS NOTES: Therapy = 02/12/2013: Telephone call to Ms. Grazzini-Rucki stating she did not have a schedule for this weekend and that the next two weeks would be fairly demanding for her.
