Design Document Report

Instructional Goal

At the end of this digital-learning module, Stuart Place teachers will know the key concepts of
Seesaw by exploring a student account to utilizing all tools. The end result of this digital-learning
module is for teachers at Stuart Place Elementary to be able to integrate Seesaw in their classrooms.

Performance Objectives

Those completing the Seesaw in K-5th Grade Classrooms digital-learning module will be able to
utilize any device available (Apple, Android, ChromeBook, etc…) to access Seesaw by
downloading the app or accessing the webpage, create a teacher Seesaw account, access student
account created by trainer, an create and submit a work sample utilizing all Seesaw tools. The
work sample submitted will be evaluated by the instructional designer utilizing a rubric (see
Assessment of the Learning Outcome section).

Learner Analysis

Those taking part in this digital-learning module will be teachers that are certified PreK-5th grade
at Stuart Place Elementary. They must know that Seesaw is a digital platform that allows student
engagement and creation of student ePortfolio. They must also be open to the idea of integrating a
new online forum in their instruction will allows students to reflect, apply, create, and problem
solve while also involving parents by sharing the student’s ePortfolio. Coincidently, this is the
reason why they should be motivated in completing this digital-learning module since they want
to be able to enhance their students’ learning by incorporating technology.

The prerequisite skills needed for this digital-learning module are basic computer skills such
browser navigation and utilization of multi-screen in order to view the instructional video and
navigate their own account on Seesaw. They must know how to follow step-by-step directives in
order to put into practice what is being taught through this digital-learning module.

This digital-learning module will be aimed to all types of learners since the multi-media will
include audio and visual explanation while they create their own account and work-samples
utilizing all tools on Seesaw.

Context Analysis

The instructional setting for this learning module will take place in the Information Literacy Center
(ILC) at Stuart Place Elementary. Teachers will be able to bring their own devices (laptops,
MacBook, iPads, or tablets) or borrow from the iPad cart in the ILC. They must be able to
download the Seesaw app from any device whether it be Apple, ChromeBook, Android, or Kindle
Fire or simply access the webpage https://web.seesaw.me/.

Instructional Strategy & Usability

This digital-learning module will be implemented through a tutorial video that will allow users to
follow along to step-by-step directives that will allow them to navigate Seesaw and create their
sample activities to familiarize themselves with this online forum. Those receiving this training
will be able to pause the video when needed to complete task that will lead to the creation of their
own Seesaw account and work samples. Those attending the training will be able to access the
online video when needed as a refresher on a certain tool that they need further guidance with.

Development Timeline & Budget

The development of this digital-learning module will take approximately 2-3 weeks. During this
time, the instructional designer will be able to create a step-by-step video and sample Seesaw
account.
The programs being utilized to create the video will be a combination of Apple Clips, iMovie, and
Quick Time Player for screen recording on an Apple MacBook. All programs are free on any
Apple product.

A basic Seesaw account is completely free for educators, which will be the version utilized during
this training. A more advanced version of the program, Seesaw Plus will be available for $120 per
year and Seesaw for School is priced per student. Each version of the program comes with different
features, see below:

Assessment of Learning Outcomes

Upon signing-in to sample class, the learner will be able to access assignment shared by the
instructional designer that they must complete. In order to ensure the success of this multimedia
learning object, the instructional designer will utilize rubric (see below) to evaluate work sample
submitted and provide feedback to the learner.

Performance Objectives
• The Learner will be able to utilize the App Store to download the app on their device or
access webpage to create their own teacher account which will generate a teacher code to
be shared on final assessment.
• The learner will be able to utilize the student class code provided by the instructional
designer to sign-in as a student to a sample class in order to create and submit a work
sample on Seesaw. The work sample will be evaluated by the instructional designer
utilizing a rubric. Success of digital-learning module will require an 80 out of 100 score.
