Very good. So what are compound
words? Compound words or compounds are
words formed by putting two or more
words together to form a new word
with a new meaning. Compound words
may be closed(written as one),
open(written with space), or
hyphenated (connected by a hyphen)

Motivation:
Now, before we begin our discussion, we’ll watch a
short film story title “The Turtle and the Rabbit”.

Discussion:
A narrative is a type of literary text that tells a story. It
presents a series of events which can either be true or
fictitious. Nonfiction narratives include biography,
autobiography, memoir, diary, etc. Fiction narratives
may be picture books, cartoons, mystery, fantasy,
adventure, science fiction, historical fiction, fairy
tales, myths, legends, fables, or plays.

The basic elements of the narrative include the theme,


setting, characters and plot.

1. Plot- the sequence of events


2. Setting- the time and place in which the events
happen
3. Characterization- the presentation of the
personality of each other
4. Mood- the general feeling created through
word choice and pacing
5. Conflict- the central problem to be solved
6. Theme- the author’s message or central
concept about life or human nature conveyed
through the story

Being able to identify the elements of the story you


read shows that you understand the story.

The elements of the story “Two Were Left” may
