Scrabble Players Team Up for Longest Tournament in History

20 Players From Around US and Canada to play 11 hours per day of SCRABBLE® From August
3-11 in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Santa Fe, NM, July 18, 2019 --(PR.com)-- Nine Days of Insanity: SCRABBLE®: Players Team Up For
Longest Tournament In Game History.

20 Players From Around US and Canada to play 11 hours per day of SCRABBLE® From August 3-11 in
Santa Fe, New Mexico.

It started out as idle conversation at a New Year's Eve party in Scottsdale, Arizona but before you could
say the word “bingo” (the un-official word for playing all seven tiles on your rack in one play), the
Hundred Games SCRABBLE® Tournament was launched and will take place August 3-11 in Santa Fe,
New Mexico. The tournament, hosted by the Word Game Players Organization (WGPO), will include
100 games of SCRABBLE® with a field of twenty accomplished players from the US and Canada
participating for upwards of eleven hours per day for nine straight days for the top cash prize and
bragging rights. For comparison purposes, North American SCRABBLE® Championship and the WGPO
Word Cup held once per year, feature just 31 games over five days. The Hundred Games event, featuring
100 games over nine days has been called everything from epic to insane. Players will turn over more
than 100,000 tiles and spend more than 90 hours attempting to access the best configurations of more than
200,000 words listed in the SCRABBLE® lexicon.

“When we first conceived of this, we wondered if anyone would come at all,” mused Nancee Mancel,
co-director and host of The Hundred Games. “But we needn't have worried, interest spread early and the
event was sold out just weeks after the initial announcement.”

And if SCRABBLE® playing wasn't enough, the entrants, coming from ten different states and Canada
will also have an opportunity to squeeze in visits to some of Santa Fe's local tourist spots, enjoy a concert
from local musician Johnny Blueheart (which is free and open to the public on Tuesday, August 6 at 7pm
at ) and participate in yoga, tai-chi and massage classes, if there is any energy left after straining their
brains on little plastic tiles for so long.

The event, which takes place at a private home in Santa Fe at 4703 Hojas Verdes Road can be visited by
press by appointment and their Tuesday night concert is open to the public.

SCRABBLE® is a trademark of Hasbro in the United States and Canada.
