KARNATAKA POSTAL CIRCLE

PROSPECTUS CUM APPLICATION FORM

The details in this prospectus are applicable to recruitment of meritorious sportspersons for the
following posts

a) Postal Assistants in Circle Office/Regional Office

b) Postal Assistants in Post Offices
c) Sorting Assistants in Railway Mail Offices

1) Scale of Pay: Rs.5200-20200 + Grade pay of Rs.2400 plus admissible allowances.

2) Probation : The candidates selected will be appointed and will be on probation as per
rules.

3) Eligibility Conditions: Between 18-25 years of age as on last date prescribed for receipt
of application i.e 10-11-2010.

4) Educational and other Qualification required:

a) Pass in 10+2 or 12th class examination of a recognised university or a board of school

education or board of secondary education (excluding vocational/JOC streams).
b) Candidates for the post of Postal Assistants in post offices, Sorting Assistants in Railway
Mail office should have above educational qualification with English as a compulsory
subject in 12th standard or equivalent.
c) The candidates should have knowledge of local language of the state i.e should have
studied Kannada as a subject atleast upto matriculation level (SSLC).
d) Candidates with higher education are also considered but they have to fulfil the
requirements mentioned in sub para a to c above. There are no bonus marks for higher
education.
e) Candidates who have passed PUC, 12th standard/10+2 in vocational course or Job
Oriented Course (JOC) are not eligible.
f) Desirable qualification : Typing knowledge and Computer Knowledge
g) For postal Assistants in Circle/Regional Office, typing skill in Hindi @ the speed of 25
w.p.m or in English @ the speed of 30 w.p.m and computer knowledge are essential.
h) Sports Qualification- as per (6) below.

5) Submission of Applications

b) Applications for the following disciplines will be considered

i) Volleyball 3 vacancies (Centre Blocker-1 & Attackers-2)
ii) Football 2 vacancies (Stopper back-1 & Wing back-1)
*All the five vacancies are reserved for Male candidates
6) Sports Qualification:

The candidates with the following qualifications shall be considered meritorious for the
purpose of recruitment under sports quota.
a) Sportsmen who have represented a State or the country in the National or
International competition in the sports/games shown above.
b) Sportsmen who have represented their university conducted by the Inter-University
Sports Board in the sports/games shown above.
c) Sportsmen who have represented the state schools team in the National
Sports/Games for schools conducted by the All India School Games Federation in
the sports/games shown above.
d) Sportsmen who have been awarded National Awards in Physical Efficiency under
the National Physical Efficiency Drive.

7) Method of Selection:

Selection of candidates will be made on the educational and sports qualification and marks
secured in field trials and interview.

8) Disqualification:

a) No person – who has entered into or contracted a marriage with a person having
spouse living; or
b) No person - who has a spouse living has entered into or contracted a marriage with
any person, shall be eligible for appointment to service. Provided that Central
government may, if satisfied that such marriage is permissible under the personnel law
applicable to such person and to the other to the marriage and there are other grounds
for so doing, exempt any person from the operation of this rule.

  Applications  in  the  prescribed  format  are  called  for  from  meritorious  sportsman  (Male)  for  the 
above posts.  Those who are in the age group of 18‐25 with PUC as the minimum qualification are eligible to 
apply.    The  details  such  as  age,  qualification,  recruitment  procedure  and  applications  are  available  in 
Departmental website (http://www.indiapost.gov.in).  Applications downloaded from website should be 
affixed  with  postage  stamps  worth  of  `25/‐(Rupees  Twenty  Five  only)  on  the  application  form.    Those 
applications without prescribed postage stamps will not be considered.  Details of vacancies are as follows.
