A business need in a global enterprise leads to a global assignment. Once a suitable candidate
has been found, the host corporate division determines the personnel costs for the global
assignment. In addition, the host corporate division determines the cost of living in the
corresponding country and calculates the tax. The host corporate division requires the
approval of the employees current home corporate division to continue with the global
assignment.
After maintaining the required data and calculating the allowances, an offer is created and
presented to the employee. The employee can discuss the offer with the host corporate
division and rework it until both parties agree on the terms of the global assignment.
As preparation for the global assignment, the host and home corporate divisions manage the
planned activities for the transfer (relocation, request for passport, apply for work permit or
visa, and so on) and complete them as required.
When the begin date of the assignment approaches and the employee has accepted the offer,
both corporate divisions proceed to transfer the employee. The home corporate division sets a
time-based delimitation on the employees master data. The host corporate division creates
additional master data for the employee based on the global assignments final offer.
Shortly before the end of the assignment, a new assignment for the global employee needs to
be defined. The home corporate division manages the related planned activities for the
employees repatriation and completes them accordingly.
Similarly to the transfer for the repatriation process both corporate divisions maintain the
employees master data. The host corporate division sets a time-based delimitation on the
employees master data. The home corporate division updates the employees master data,
accordingly.
Using a single point of information for all involved parties guarantees increased transparency
in the processes. It also helps to obtain a reduction in the communication time and
transactions costs. Additionally, with mySAP HR solution for the Management of Global
Employees the transfer of employees information from one country to the other is automatic
and supports an efficient information exchange among all involved parties.
