Internship guidelines for PGDM Students

The PGDM students are required to do their internship just after the
second semester as per the following guidelines:

Students need to take an approval to do their internship from a company of


repute.

Collect a Letter of permission from the organization and submit the same at
least one week before the commencement of the internship.

Confirm the corporate guide name and contact details to the director’s
office.

You need to submit the report as per the format prescribed by the Academy
(two soft copy and three hard copies).

Students have to attend viva voce as per the time schedule drawn by the
department.

How it is done?

• The students select the organization in which they would like to do


their internship.

• The department will issue letter of reference addressed to the


industries, mentioning the details of the student, such as registration
number, roll number, etc.

• The students carries the letter to the industries he / she have


identified, and once approved by the industry will get in return a letter
of consent to complete the internship.

• The student has 4 weeks to complete the internship.

• One expert from industry also will function as external guide, helping
the student to complete the project on time successfully.

The overall objective of internship is to experience the way in which


organizations function in a given environment. The keyword is experience.

I. Understand the industry in which the organizations operate.


II. The business model of the organization
III. Studying different departments of the organization and highlighting
SWOT.

IV. Understand how various principles you have learnt during one

year of course work is applied in the real time business world.

V. Learn the changes that are taking place in the business world.

The internship is divided into three phases

i. Pre- internship interface


ii. Interface during the internship
iii. Interface after the internship
Each of the time periods is very important.

Phase I

It is requesting for an internship you will be raising certain


expectations from the organizations.

The expectations are generally based on

1. Your competencies
2. References given by you
Phase II

1. Preparation at home. Some of you are going outstation for project


work, please ensure your train & bus tickets.
2. Find out the name & contact number of the person to whom you have
to report.
3. Inform in advance if possible of your arrival. Present yourself
professionally.

Your first interface should project the following traits.

The internship is an additional responsibility undertaken by organization;


therefore don’t expect organizations or the person in charge to respond to
you immediately. Some time you may have to wait more than 3 hours or
even 1 day. This doesn’t mean that organization is not need of you. It only
indicates that they have different priorities.

Phase III

In phase III you will be working towards meeting expectations of


organizations and prepare the report.

- Declaration

- Certificate (Guide/Academy)

- Certificate (Organization)

- Acknowledgement

- Contents

- List of table/charts

2. Industry profile and product profile

- Company Profile

3. Organization structure (Hierarchy)

4. Functional area (Divisions) – HR, Marketing, Finance, IT, Operations,


Systems & Procedures.

5. SWOT analysis / Vision, Mission. Goals and objectives.

6. Suggestions / Recommendations.

7. Highlight one important limitation/problem in the organization and give


your suggestion to manage the same.
