Olympian Dan Kellner. Kellner was a member of the 2004
Olympic Foil team that upset Germany and then lost to Russia
in the bronze medal match. Dan now coaches and run the
Booklyn Bridge Fencing Club.

Barb Lynch RYC supporting
Teal Ribbon Foundation

Honoring one of US fencing most beloved individuals.
On December 18th and 19th, the Barb Lynch Regional Youth
Circuit will occur at NJFA in Maplewood, New Jersey. 100%
of proceeds going to support The Teal Ribbon Foundation.
Sadly, Barbara Lynch lost her brave battle with ovarian cancer
in August 2010. She served as the NJ division chair for over 10
years, coached Morris Hills High school for 21 years, served as
USFA bout committee chair for many, many national fencing
tournaments and Junior Olympic Championships, served as

USFA Vice President from 2000-2004, and was honored with
a lifetime membership to the USFA.
This RYC honors her work on behalf of young fencers. Her
passion for grass roots fencing continues even after she has
passed.
Fencers must fence in at least one RYC or SYC competition
in the current season to be eligible to enter the same category
and weapon at the April and July NACs. Winners of Y14 events
earn qualification to Y14 Summer National Championships.
This event is staffed by volunteers. Talented individuals
who volunteer their time to honor Barb and all she has
given to fencing. If you would like to volunteer or donate.

Just to show the cultural cachet of fencing in France, check out

Paul Hunter, who has directed commercials and music videos
for icons such as Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, and
Madonna has produced a new spot for Adidas deodorant in
which he staged French soccer star Zinedine Zidane. In this,
a young man faces off with Zidane on strip and uses the first
touch to bell-punch Zidane. The ensuing fight is reminiscent
of the James Bond fencing scene.
Yes, the fencing is over the top, but no biggie. My gripe is
that they have Zidane kitted out in an epee uniform (w/Adidas
stripes) vs. the dude in sabre lame. I understand that you
would want it visually easy to pick out the two, so what would
you suggest a director do for this problem? Stripes vs. white
jacket, stripes vs. a colored jacket, or does the lame solution
work out?
