Lesson 1

The Forgotten to Biblical Evangelism

Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster [to

bring us] unto Christ, that we might be justified
by faith. (Galatians 3:24)
1. How did Paul seek to persuade his hearers concerning Jesus?
Why did he do this?

Out of the Law of Moses, and out of the prophets. Prophecy

speaks to the intellect producing faith in the Word of God.
The Law speaks to the conscience bringing knowledge of sin.

2. What is it that the Bible says actually converts the soul? (See
Psalm 1:7)

The Law is perfect converting the soul.

3. Why do you think the preaching of the cross seems foolish and
offensive to an unregenerate sinner?

They don't think that they are bad people (sinners) who need
a savior.

4. Therefore, what should someone be told first, before hears the

good news of his fine being paid?

By the Law, show them that they have offended God by

violated His Law. Then when they become convinced of the
law as transgressors, the 'good news' of the gospel will truly
be good, it will be "the power of God unto salvation" (Romans
1:16).

5. What does the Bible mean when it says that the Law "stops
every mouth"? (See Romans 3:19)

It stops sinners from self-righteously proclaiming their own

goodness.

6. According to Romans 3:19, 20, Romans 7:7, and Galatians 3:24,

what are four functions of the Law?
i. Stops sinners from self-righteously proclaiming their
own goodness
ii. Tells us we are guilty
iii. Shows us what sin is
iv. Acts like a schoolmaster to bring us to Christ

7. What is the biblical definition of sin? (See 1 John 3:4)

Sin is transgression of the law.

Lesson 2:
Making Grace Amazing

Moreover the law entered, that the offense

might abound. But where sin abounded, grace
did much more abound. (Romans 5:20)

1. What is the definition of grace?

Unmerited favor to the infinitely ill-deserving, or God's Riches

At Christ's Expense.

2. Why should the Christian be concerned about how to make grace

amazing to the world?

Grace to sinners shows how loving God is and gives Him all
the glory in salvation.

3. What is it that makes grace abound?

The Law

4. What caused the speedster to see the seriousness of his

transgression?

The Law showed him he was personally guilty.

5. What did Charles Spurgeon say about the Law?

"The Law serves a most necessary purpose...They will never

accept grace, until they tremble before a just and holy Law."

6. Why did the prostitute weep at the mention of God's love?

Her emotional desire for a father's love, not true repentance.

7. What did John Newton say about thee harmony between Law and
grace?

A wrong understanding would produce error on the left and

the right.
