The U.S. Peace Corps is an agency that promotes international peace and sustainable
development by providing trained men and women, Peace Corps Volunteers (PCVs), to serve in
countries that have requested assistance. The Peace Corps Driver position entails driving a bus,
sedan, SUV, van or truck to deliver passengers and/or cargo throughout the city of Accra and
throughout the country of Ghana, to various Peace Corps offices, to Volunteer sites within
Ghana, and to countries adjacent to Ghana, including short and long scheduled treks and
emergencies.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (100%)
1. Pick up passengers in the areas of Accra and throughout Ghana, and drive them to
specified locations; drive authorized persons on official travel as instructed;
2. Pick up cargo at the seaport, airport, and other sources in and around Accra, and deliver
them as directed;
3. Deliver invitations and other mail to diplomatic missions, Ghanaian Ministries, partners
and other addresses;
4. Drive Peace Corps staff members and Peace Corps Volunteers throughout Ghana on
official business;
5. Deliver mail and supplies to PCV sites as assigned;
6. Perform first line maintenance while on the road in remote areas;
7. Ensure that vehicles are equipped with a spare parts kit, tires, etc. prior to departing on
treks while using a standard checklist (provided by GSM);
8. Wash vehicles every morning;
9. Drive defensively, vigilantly and safely to ensure passenger and vehicle safety; and
10. Perform other duties as indicated by the Country Director and Administrative Officer,
and work in close collaboration with the General Services Manager and General Services
Assistant/Motorpool.

The services to be performed shall be subject to the ultimate responsibility and authority of the
Peace Corps Country Director who is responsible for all Peace Corps activities in the host
country. This position entails close collaboration with the General Services Manager and
General Services Assistant/Motorpool, and is supervised by the Administrative Officer.
