CTS 7.

The competent teacher will use computers and other technologies in research,
problem solving, and product development. The competent teacher will appropriately use a
variety of media, presentation, and authoring packages; plan and participate in team and
collaborative projects that require critical analysis and evaluation; and present products
developed.

1. Write a paragraph explaining your knowledge and understanding of the standard—put the

standard into your own words.

I think that the standard wants me to understand that there are ample amounts of technology

productivity tools that are available to enhance instruction. These tools, designed to increase

instructional effectiveness, can be influential in creating a classroom atmosphere that caters to

the technological era that students are growing up in. An important aspect of this standard is

realizing that in order to understand how the applications work and how they can be incorporated

into instruction and planning.

2. Explain how the artifact you chose demonstrates your understanding and application of the

standard.

The artifact demonstrates my understanding and application of the standard through my use of

weebly.com. This website, a tool for creating websites, is an application that can be used by

students and teachers alike for assessment and instruction. As a competent teacher, creating this

artifact helped me in becoming more familiar with the application, and in turn, learn how to

appropriately use media in my instruction and assessment. This artifact, which was a technology-

supported presentation, demonstrated my knowledge of the standard through the use and

presentation of solving problems and conducting research.

the future to further meet the standard.

your teaching will be impacted by the assignment.

Although this artifact has not been used in my practice, this artifact, which was produced for a

class assignment, emphasizes my knowledge and understanding of technology and presentation.

I believe that the creation of this website demonstrates my knowledge of “how to use computers

and other technologies in research, problem solving, and product development.” Using

weebly.com in my own practice could help my students understand how to create a website,

organize information, and problem solve. In doing so myself, I can better instruct my students in

how to safely and effectively use technology to help encourage learning.

4. Conclude with a paragraph discussing how you are more prepared to Teach and Learn in a

Diverse Society as a result of satisfactorily meeting the standard.

This artifact, which required that I work in a group to create a technology-supported

presentation, better prepares me to teach and learn in a diverse society because as an educator,

teachers need to instruction based on practice. Through my own practice, I can learn how to

more effectively teach my students. Through satisfactorily meeting the standard, I think that my

capability to incorporate technology into my instructional practices.
