1. DATA ACQUISITION SYSTEMS: Introduction, generalized data acquisition
systems(DAS), Single channel and multi channel DAS, micro-computer based
data acquisition systems, Data logger.
2. SENSORS AND TRANSDUCERS: An overview:
3. SIGNAL CONDITIONING CIRCUITS : Introduction, necessity, AC and DC signal
conditioning circuits, Operational amplifier as inverting and non inverting
amplifier, Transducer bridges, instrumentation amplifier, chopper stabilized
amplifier, logarithmic amplifier, noise problem, grounding, shielding, input
guarding techniques, power isolation, EMI/EMC.
4. SAMPLING, SAMPLE AND HOLD CIRCUITS: Fundamentals of digital
quantizing theory, Analog to Digital and digital to analog conversion Techniques,
Characteristics, specifications, Principles of operation, and applications.
5. Signals, Classification, random and interference signals, Signal analysis,
Convolution, Transformation, correlation, Discrete Fourier Transform, FFT,
Principles of FFT analyzer, storage oscilloscope, Analog and digital recording
techniques, Displays, XY and strip chart recorders.
6. BASIC SYSTEM MODELS : Mathematical models, mechanical, electrical, fluid,
thermal systems building blocks, Electrical equivalent of Mechanical systems,
System Transfer function,
7. CONTROL SYSTEM: Block diagram representation techniques, Signal flow
graphs, Transfer function, order of the system, dynamic responses of systems,
Stability: Routh-Hurvitz Criteria, Root locus and Nyquist stability criteria,
frequency response, Bode Plots, Phase margin and gain margin lead lag
networks.
8. CLOSED LOOP CONTROLLERS: control modes, proportional, derivative, integral
controllers, PID controller, Control system performance, controller timing,
introduction to digital and adaptive control systems, Various motor control
mechanism
9. Use of MATLAB, SIMULINK applied to control system.
