Invitation To Participate
The Tertiary Education Management Conference (TEMC)
has been a feature of the Australasian higher education
calendar since 1977. I invite you to participate in the 35th
conference to be held on Queensland’s Gold Coast from
Sunday 14 August to Wednesday 17 August 2011. TEMC 2011
is a joint venture of the Association for Tertiary Education
Management (ATEM) and the Tertiary Education Facilities
Management Association (TEFMA).
The conference theme is Riding the Waves. As leaders
and managers we ride the waves of the expected and
unexpected, of change and challenge. We are at the mercy
of our environment, just as in surfing. It may be safest to
swim at a patrolled beach, but we venture further with the
assistance of tools and technology. We maintain forward
momentum, or we aim to. Whether we wipeout or ride to
the shore, we return again and again seeking challenge
and satisfaction.
TEMC 2011 is your opportunity to check the forecast, to
skill up, to share your experiences, and listen to stories and
experiences of others.
On behalf of the organising committee I look forward to
seeing you at TEMC 2011 on the Gold Coast.

Location & Venue
Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre
The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre (GCCEC)
officially opened in June 2004, providing the Gold Coast with its
first and Queensland with its third convention centre. Conveniently
located in the heart of the Gold Coast. It is Australia’s largest
regional convention centre, capable of handling corporate and
association conferences and meetings, national and international
incentives, banquets, exhibitions, concerts, sporting and special
events.
The GCCEC is the only convention centre in Australia to offer total
wireless technology allowing delegates to log on to email and the
internet from wherever they are in the venue.

Gold Coast, Queensland

The City of the Gold Coast, boasts 42 kilometres of golden,
unpolluted beaches stretching from Southport in the north to
Coolangatta in the south, with a lush subtropical back-drop in the
Gold Coast hinterland. This beautiful scenery combination is often
described “the green behind the gold”. Surfers Paradise with its
towering skyline and beachfront esplanade forms the hub of the
city.
Situated only an hour’s drive from Brisbane, Queensland’s State
capital, this international city offers a multitude of man-made and
natural attractions and some of Australia’s best surfing beaches.
With almost 300 days of sunshine each year and an average winter
maximum of 20°C and average summer maximum of 28°C, making
the Gold Coast a great location for delegates to relax and extend
their stay.
