HRT2MDB PROTOCOL CONVERTER

Hart over 4-20mA to Modbus RTU RS-232 or RS-485 protocol converter.

DESCRIPTION

The HRT2MDB Protocol Converter allows the connection of

smart ield instruments that use HART protocol over 4-20mA
to monitor and control equipments that use Modbus RTU
protocol.

The device periodically adquires the four dynamic variables

or up to eight of the device variables of the HART instrument
and provides them through the Modbus RTU protocol to the
master equipment.

In addition, the device can operate as a HART modem,

allowing direct connection from the PC or Notebook to the
HART instrument. In this way, coniguration or maintenance
tasks don’t require a dedicated handheld device.

FEATURES

OPERATION MODES
The HRT2MDB provides two modes of operation: HART Concentrator and HART Modem.

- HART Concentrator:

Operating as HART Concentrador, the device

periodically adquires (1 sec) the four dynamic
variables or up to eight device variables from
any smart instrument compatible with the
HART protocol over 4-20 mA (low meters,
pressure transmiters, level, position, tempera-
ture).

The adquired data are saved as Modbus registers

to be polled by the master Modbus system (RTU,
PLC, PC, radio linked to SCADA system).

- HART Modem: HRT2MDB protocol converter operation modes.

Operating as HART modem, the device allows the direct connection of the HART instrument through the
serial port of the PC or Notebook for its maintenance. Using the PACTware® coniguration software or similar
application, without the need of a handheld device.

for the quick and easy coniguration of all the
parameters.

- HART Configuration
- Instrument address.
- Poll: dynamic or device variables.
- Quantity of device variables to poll.
- Code of the device variables to poll.
- Modbus Configuration
- Communication: address, baud rate, parity, stop
bits.
- Floating registers format: standard LSW or
swapped MSW.
- Default value for the loating registers.

The application also allows to monitor the polled

variables, with its unit codes, the data of the
Converter configuration software.
