The Innocent Mocking Bird

In the novel To Kill a Mocking Bird Tom a young black man. He is convicted of rape of

mayella and now he would stand in front of an all white jury and tell he’s of the story, For his

life. Then mayella would tell what she thinks happen to. Next Atticlus will some everything up

to what really happen. Racism plays a big role in this novel and in the movie how the jury has

already made up their minds before they even hear Toms side of the story on what happen. They

are blind to see the truth they only see him as he black so he has to be guilty of rape because it is

a white women. That is the start of how tom doesn’t get a fair trial

Tom is blamed for the so called rape of mayella ,when he is not guilty of doing that .the

jury just said that because he is a black man they think that a black’s are just monsters when they

see white women they just can’t help themselves they must have her and do what the please with

her .The only people that were to see what really happen was Tom and Mayella .Now tom is on

trial he is telling his part of the story how every day he is coming home from work he see

mayella and she would always have something for them to do. The person asking them this

questions keeps yelling at him and calling him boy and not letting him finish what he got to say.

Atticus ask tom to do something for him he asked to catch a ball for him first with his right then

with his left but he couldn’t catch it with his left because he when he was younger his left arm

got stuck in a machine and now he can’t use it. After that he told everyone that the person who

beat up mayella was leading with his left hand. Tom can’t use his left hand at all the only person

that we know that lead with his left hand is Mr. Ewells. Then the lawyer told him that he was

good at chopping wood with one hand tom said I guess .next he asked if he was strong enough to

beat up a white women he said he guess. He thinks since he is strong enough tobeat up a white

women then he did to without a doubt.

But according to mayella she claim that she was on the porch when tom came by. She

told him to come over and bust up a old chiffarobe for her and she would give him a nickel he

comes in next thing she knows he gets her by the neck she couldn’t do nothing after that she is

on the floor and her dad is standing over her and saying who did it. The lawyer asked if he is in

the courtroom and if he is then point to him and she pointed to tom

After she tells what she had to say then atticus tell the courtroom he is going to use the

rest of his time to some up what really happen the day so he is going on that she had save some

money for a year for the kids so she can have the whole house to herself when tom comes and

when he came by she told him to come in side and he went in and there was nothing their for him

to do and she told him to get something from the top of the chiffarobe and when tom truned

around she was all over him she had broken the code by tempting a negero and she had planed it

for a year so when she had the amout of money she could have the how to herself but when to

refuse her she start kissing him all over and her dad saw then kissing he said that he would kill

them both that’s when tom ran for his life and her dad beat her up then raped her.

The is deliberated for2hours that tell everyone that it was a little victory in that and they

need to have a retrial because there was not enough proof that tom hap done all of those thing to

mayella
