A FAITH SO GREAT

1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon Him; for He careth for you.

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and
that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

I. OUR FAITH IS EXPRESSED BY OUR TRUST IN GOD.

A. As the woman with the issue of blood.
1. Matt 9:20-22 And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came
behind him, and touched the hem of his garment: For she said within herself, If I may but touch his
garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of
good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

B. As the woman of Canaan.

1. Matt 15:21-28
21 Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.
22 And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on
me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.
23 But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she
crieth after us.
24 But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
25 Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.
26 But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.
27 And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.
28 Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And
her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

C. As commanded by Paul.
1. Eph 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts
of the wicked.

D. As commanded by Peter.
1. 1 Peter 1:3-9
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten
us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold
temptations:
7 That the trial of your faith , being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried
with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy
unspeakable and full of glory:
9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.

E. As commanded in Psalms and Proverbs

1. Ps 37:3-5 Trust in the LORD, and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be
fed. Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Commit thy way
unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

2. Prov 3:5-9 Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In
all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the
LORD, and depart from evil. It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. Honour the
LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:

II. GOD REQUIRES A FULL COMMITMENT.

A. So that He can give back a full commitment.
1. Ps 37:5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.

2. Ps 55:22 Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the
righteous to be moved.

3. Ps 56:3-4 What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee. In God I will praise his word, in God I have
put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

4. Job 13:15 Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: but I will maintain mine own ways before him.

5. Ps 4:5-8 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD. There be many that
say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us. Thou hast
put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased. I will both lay
me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

III. GOD WILL TAKE CARE OF THOSE WHO HAVE ESTABLISHED PROPER PRIORITIES.
A. Seek first the kingdom of God.
1. Matt 6:25-33
25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for
your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
26 Behold the fowls of the air: for they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly
Father feedeth them. Are ye not much better than they?
27 Which of you by taking thought can add one cubit unto his stature?
28 And why take ye thought for raiment? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow; they toil not, neither
do they spin:
29 And yet I say unto you, That even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.
30 Wherefore, if God so clothe the grass of the field, which to day is, and to morrow is cast into the oven, shall
he not much more clothe you, O ye of little faith?
31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be
clothed?
32(For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all
these things.
33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

B. Have the right attitude toward the material world.

1. Heb 13:5-6 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye
have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The
Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

C. Recognize the power and perfection of God.

2
1. Ps 18:1-3 I will love thee, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my
deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust ; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my
high tower. I will call upon the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine
enemies.
2. Ps 18:30-32 As for God, his way is perfect: the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all
those that trust in him. For who is God save the LORD? or who is a rock save our God? It is God that
girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect.

IV. EXAMPLES OF TOTAL FAITH.

JOB Job 1:20-22 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and
worshipped, And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD
gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. In all this Job sinned not, nor charged
God foolishly.

JOSEPH Gen 39:20-21 And Joseph's master took him, and put him into the prison, a place where the king's
prisoners were bound: and he was there in the prison. But the LORD was with Joseph, and shewed him mercy,
and gave him favour in the sight of the keeper of the prison.

DANIEL Dan 6:8-11 Now, O king, establish the decree, and sign the writing, that it be not changed, according
to the law of the Medes and Persians, which altereth not. Wherefore king Darius signed the writing and the
decree. Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being
open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave
thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. Then these men assembled, and found Daniel praying and making
supplication before his God.

STEPHEN Acts 7:57-60 Then they cried out with a loud voice, and stopped their ears, and ran upon him with
one accord, And cast him out of the city, and stoned him: and the witnesses laid down their clothes at a young
man's feet, whose name was Saul. And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive
my spirit. And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when
he had said this, he fell asleep.

PAUL 2 Cor 11:24-27 Of the Jews five times received I forty stripes save one. Thrice was I beaten with rods,
once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck, a night and a day I have been in the deep; In journeyings often,
in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by mine own countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in
the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; In weariness and
painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

Phil 4:6-7 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let
your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep
your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

1 Tim 4:10 For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who
is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe.
